Going to lunch with a decent source. I'll let you know what I think later.

Number 2 is a good one. I remember the wrong player getting ejected because the numbers were similar. 79 got ejected when 74 should have been ejected. It will be nice to be able to at least appeal the decision.

Montini had a high level player ejected in a first round game a few years back against Ignatius. Total BS and nothing could be done to stop the suspension.

I don’t see this really changing anything since there aren’t enough cameras at game to get a really good view of what goes on so I would assume the IHSA would defer back to the on the field official. I see this like the NFL pass interference challenge, great idea but doesn’t really change anything.

We have to pass it to see whats in it?
Well we saw what it would look like.
We rescinded it.
Shame Washington doesn't work this way.
Did the IHSA put out a proposed district projection to schools? If not, how would we know what it would have been?
If you're basing your thoughts about district projections on Soucie or others who have a mock district projections, that is not fair. Nothing against Soucie or others who give projections, but it is not official or coming from the source that will do the actual scheduling.

Proposal 25 (passed 470-215-16): Permits schools an opportunity to appeal a player ejection when the player was ejected as a result of the misapplication of a playing rule by an official.

Purely objective and not subjective. In the past, wrong numbers were reported for ejection and tape proved otherwise. When defenseless player contact and illegal helmet contact were in their infancy, players were being ejected by officials on the first offense without being deemed flagrant, similar to the college rule. That was a misapplication that was not subject to appeal. Judgement situations will be affirmed, i.e. fighting.

Yes they did. And I believe that was the beginning of the end when most schools saw what the possible reality would be.

St. Rita playing Mount Carmel possibly perennially in round three or four would have been the only benefit. But with such weak regular season the football would suffer state wide. Glad it’s gone.
