As hard of a time I give NHS I predicted them to beat Essex but for some reason I got a feeling that W&L will give a heck of a game tonight. I think W&L presents a challenge that NHS hasn't faced this year and that is a reliable passing attack.

After going back and forth I think I'm going with W&L with the upset of the undefeated Indians in a close game 20-17

W&L gets opening kickoff. Goes 3 and out. Nice long punt.

Northumberland scores on 1st drive. NHS up 7-0.

I was worried about no practice in a week but all three phases look good so far.

WL gambled with an onside kick. Didn’t work. NHS drops TD pass in enzone.

NHS Harry Lee makes a 30 yard FG. Indians up 10-7.

Northumberland drives again- another fumble deep in the red zone. WL with ball.

WL just fumbled it back to NHS.

NHS has ball on the half yard line. Loses yards on a sweep and then on an penalty. Then gets sacked. WLwith Ball.

That is like 4 times NHS deep in Red zone. 3 points to show for it.

NHS got a safety. Then Indians’ Morris with big return TD. Called back.

The Northumberland D was awesome tonight. WL could not move the Ball except for the two big TD runs.

This was a good game. I think N’land stole one. The playoffs will be very interesting. Still think the region is up for grabs

Great game to both teams. NHS didn’t play so well and still managed to win. Had the ball in the Redzone at least 3 times and came away with nothing. Northumberland defense is the diffrance maker! Even when offense struggle their defense will keep them in games like tonight

Takeaways -

1) Northumberland played its worst game this season against an inspired, improved and tough NND rival - W&L.

2) Passing game was off tonight for NHS - (off for W&L as well).

3) This was definitely a major trap game for the Indians. They survived.

4) W&L looked good tonight, mainly on D (well coached).

5) This was only the 2nd win over W&L for NHS in over 20 years so a big win no matter what. Coach Lewis and his staff is 2-0 v the Eagles.

6) NHS has already defeated this season the two main (historically best) football programs in the NND.

7) NHS went inside ten 4 times - came away with 3 points.

8) NHS had only two practices since Essex win - that's ten days. Storms and other issues.

9) NHS faced serious adversity late for the 1st time this season as was down in the 4th - yet pulled it out on Saunders huge TD.

10) NHS lost their big man on O and D with injury to Keon Redman in 1st half - I hope that he is well soon and returns.

Still won - NHS is now 5-0. Not bad I'd say....

Also, whats with #24 for NHS playing guard? Doesnt he have to have a lineman number?

That’s Caleb Davis, he is a helluva defensive player he doesn’t really like playing o-line only if they need him there he usually go in but he forbids to change his number.

Although, he had to change it against essex because they complained about it. Never thought a number would be such a big beings that he doesn’t even start a linemen.

Bruh it’s highschool who cares about numbers. It’s not like the NFL where they got a players for every position. Essex’s coach was common for telling the refs. Guess that shows how scared everyone is of Northumberland to do wack stuff like that‍♂️

Have you ever heard of the quote “Prepare your kids for the road ahead, don’t prepare the road ahead for your kids”?

You are an excuse factory. I could do a ten bullet point section on why WL barely lost but I’m not going to enable them. You started a while ago creating excuses for potential losses.

I hope WL gets the opportunity to play them again.

Interesting perspective.

I call them observations and my thoughts on the game. You can call them whatever you want.

Try reading a newspaper - sports or politics. I guess they might as well not have a sports section to discuss what may happen or why something did or did not.

Northumberland is 5-0. I make no excuses for that.

@uvacavs1 def is an excuse factory. He has already set up the 4 games in however many days excuse. He def gonna cry in the car when Rapp (or CB) takes them down lol

lol

Good thing you guys did not take the LSAT.

I posted factual information about the schedule which presented a major challenge for the NHS coaching staff and players (or any team at any level in football).

NHS should go 10-0 as I predicted many weeks ago if the Indians can get by Essex (the three teams I was concerned about this summer and posted about have already been defeated).

Just curious, but I would love to hear how Rapp matches up vs NHS in your opinion. You seem to have some kind of vendetta to down play them.

Well it’s hard for a RB/ D and O Lineman that plays Offense, defense and special teams to have one single number. You gonna make the kicker change his number too if he has a running back number? Stop being sorry

He can play all of those with 50-79.
If he plays oline he has to have a 50-79 number. That's the rule. That's the only number restriction in HS. Kickers can wear whatever number they want, the number rule doesn't apply to special teams plays, heck a qb can wear 55 a RB can wear 77 and carry the ball 40 times aa game there's no rule against it. Yes, if you want to catch a pass you have to have an eligible number. But the percentage of players that would play Guard and catch a pass is pretty small. If you have that kid, he would have to change his number accordingly.... Another way around the rule if coaches cannot do without him out there is plop a 5th ineligible number on the field out at wide receiver and let an eligible number play Guard. A lot of lineman type kids would love to have a different number, that's evident by the number DLineman on Saturdays wearing 5,6,10, 99 etc. But you can't on the Oline

I don't completely understand the "just let them play" because people say that about all rules. Holding, blind side blocks, facemask... "It wasn't like that back in my day"... Rules are what creates the organization and flow of the game, without them it would be a free for all. It's a rule, follow it.

For the last 4 years he has played with the number 24 and played oline. If it's a rule, refs should have enforced it his freshman year. It seems to only be a problem because he's a 5'8 ,170 guard that may be one of the strongest and the smallest guards in the district making a fool of the defense. Let me just add it's pretty sad that grown men are worried about a kid's jersey number.

Definitely no vendetta against Rapp - in fact, I probably have said more supportive things about the Raiders (in other sports and some in football) than anyone else.

I am glad that Rapp Football has improved - I put them awhile back in my state top ten.

I don't think that I have said anything negative about Rapp - I have only said how good I think Northumberland will be.

All I have posted when challenged or Northumberland has been insulted is imo they will beat Rapp. I am fairly sure that the Indians will win because NHS is simply the better team.

Both are much better than they were the last two seasons.

Rapp has improved and have some very nice skill players to contend with.

The Raiders have Gaines as QB who is really good. He has like 12 Tds and only one pic. Rapp also has the Epps kid who averages around 28 yards a catch (has a bunch of receptions). Epps has 11 TDs. Both players give the Raiders a shot to be quite competitive.

Rapp is currently tied with Franklin in 1st in the ratings. Rapp has a great record of 5-1. Besides Lancaster, Rapp ends with W&L, NHS, and then Essex. Tough way to end the season but what a good shot to prove the doubters wrong.

W&L has improved - they gave it everything they had, still lost to an unprepared Indian team. Oh was that an excuse for winning?
