Maybe win 7, 8 games a year, and compete for the conference title once every 5 or 6 years, just like the Big East days, once the good teams left for bigger opportunities.

Did some research, and our friends are 61-49 since joining a Southwest Conference, going 40-40 in league play.
American seems to be a much better fit, especially if the goal is to win conference championships. I can't recall how many they've won in the Big XII (basketball or football), but I'm guessing it has to be less than or equal to Zero.
Old rivals exist in the American. East Carolina, Temple, Cincinnati, South Florida, Tulane, all teams we used to see on a WV football schedule. I think they could win the conference every now and then, but certainly wouldn't be a given.
I think those are all good points....maybe if Kansas gets a heavy punishment for being dirty they might have a chance at winning a conference title in hoops but chance for that glory on the gridiron!
