Not sure why everybody needs to talk crap about him. The kid played hard, coaching changes are a big deal. Not a shooter, though. I think anyone with a brain assumed we would only keep Perry from this class.

I never had a problem with Wagner, I think he was just trying to do what the staff asked of him. If he sticks in college, I hope he doesn’t follow Cal. Not because of any ill will on my side, I just don’t see it as a good fit.

The guy is considering leaving and post like “I wouldn’t want him if I were Cal” and “he wont fit Popes system” etc sure doesn’t reinforce he is loved and wanted does it? If he is even on the fence somewhat, maybe showing him some love would be better suited. But you knew what I meant before you replied.

Saying a player isn’t a good fit in a coach’s system isn’t hate. Pope coaches a 4-5 out system that emphasizes ball movement and 3 point shooting. Wagner struggles with court vision, making tough passes, and 3 point shooting. Ergo, not a good fit. That’s not hate. And if you think it is consider yourself blessed because you have lived a VERY sheltered life.
Why his dad is like a 2nd kid to Cal we all know how this ends…. That would be like Sheppard leaving and going to Arkansas with Pope being coach of UK as close as Jeff and Mark are… It just isn’t going to happen 0% chance.

While not unexpected, it still stings to see all the guys enter the portal, Reed leaving (will be official soon), and the recruits decommitting.
I was wondering when he was going to make an announcement. I thought it was odd that he hadn’t hit the portal because he felt like a lock to follow Cal. I liked his game especially pre ankle injury. He could get to the basket with ease. I don’t know if he never fully recovered or what, but his game changed after the injury.
Only players I want back are Reed Big Z and Burkes. Thiero is tied to cal too much and Dillingham is going to the NBA but if we lucked out to getting Z, Reed and Burkes back then I’m thrilled that’s a good start
No, there's no way Cal would "tamper" by communicating with these players before they had a new coach or were even in the portal officially.....nah, Cal wouldn't do that (yeah right).
