Why the hell would he want to stay in that part of NY?? The Mets are god awful and not moving forward. He's not going to get the closer role back there or in Boston. Seems he'd want to go to a contender.

Maybe hiding something else wrong? Doesnt want to have to take a physical?

I think it also mainly has to do with the fact that he wanted assurance Boston would not pick up his $10M option next year. I think he knows that the Mets won't pick it up and thus he'll be a free agent and get to go where he wants. At 38, I'm sure he probably wants to be somewhere we he can close or maybe he has a "dream team" he wants to play for.
