Wake Forest Coach Dave Clawson on Mike & Mike

Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson says the Demon Deacons had to adjust the game plan for their November matchup with Louisville after the school realized documents containing specific formations were found inside Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

"We knew we had been compromised, and as a result, a lot of those things that we had prepared we couldn't run because we knew they had it," Clawson told ESPN's Mike & Mike on Friday.

Clawson said his players were upset after the game, believing they had wasted their effort practicing sets specifically designed to be used against the Cardinals that were instead discarded.

"They wanted to know, 'Why did we work on all these things? ... Why did we practice these things all week and then not use them?'" Clawson said. "They were upset that they felt we did not give them the best opportunity to win the game, and we had a team meeting and said, 'Hey, listen guys, something was compromised. We're not sure how,' and at that point it triggered an investigation."

Clawson said the cards contained "very, very detailed information" on alignments and sets, which led Wake Forest to take those plans out for the 44-12 loss to the Cardinals.

But golic wanted most of the blame on elrod, UL not so much
So while Golic is in Vegas a hot cocktail waitress(she is mad at boyfriend) seduces him and He sleeps with her; it's mostly her fault?
I'm sure his wife and her divorce atty. will go with that.

I agree with Golic. (can't believe I just typed that) The majority of the blame should go on Elrod. It would be like getting an insider stock tip. However, when that happens both parties get in trouble. UL should get some kind of repercussions for going with the info.

That's terrible for those kids working their asses off for nothing all because of some old men in UL athletics department are scumbags.

At the end of the 3rd Quarter, Wake was up 12-10:

http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/boxscore?id=26108

The final was 44-12. Read/listen to interview, and you can guess what happened.

The NCAA has a real big problem - not just with crap like this, but many other failings. All of these things gather together and snowball into something much bigger.

Because UofL handled this so poorly, nobody is talking about WF and Elrod. National media is hammering UofL, when Elrod should be the one getting pummeled.

As Jethro Tull would say. UL is "Skating Away". Nothing will come of this other that Bobby might have to sit out the Kent or Murray St. games next year.

It would be great if there was another twist to this story...

Did UL have a guilty mole who dropped the play cards on the WF sideline to alert the? Did Elrod do it to out himself?

nothing was ever going to come of this, with the exception that everyone in the nation now knows what kind of scumbags are in charge at Louisville.

UL should get hammered in the media and get some sort of punishment from both the ACC and the NCAA
Elrod has been fired, he has been punished

if UL had an ounce of honor or integrity they would have reported it when they got the playbook
but when you breed and teach corruption, this is what you get
it all starts at the top

At the end of the day, this quote is what bothers me most. Those players bust their humps year round, only to have a couple of adults come in and snatch it away from them. Everyone involved should be ashamed and severely punished.

So if I'm understanding this correctly - comparing Sir Tom the Righteous statements to what the Wake Forest coach said - Petrino regularly prepares for opponents formations that said opponents have never used in previous games. Now that is pure genius and is why Honest Bob is the best there is. Saban needs to take some notes on this.

NCAA should vacate that win and suspend Petrino for the bowl game. Heisman trophy should be returned.
So you can prove that Lamar Jackson had any knowledge of what went down ? Let's not for get the plays found were offensive plays that WF had planned to use.

I agree that I would have liked for Louisville to say something to WF, however we already know Army and Va. Tech were at least contacted by Elrod long before the UofL/WF game so why didn't either of those do the right thing and tell WF they had a rat ?

that still does not excuse UL from lacking honor and integrity and doing the right thing

UofL and Elrod should both be hammered. A coach with any class, would say, "I don't want to hear anything about your plays. Thanks anyway."

Well if you can't tell why Louisville is getting all the heat...

A.) Petrino has lied about it on at least two occasions now on TV
B.) Your AD released a god awful statement

They did not have to accept or use the info. They should have reported. End of story.
I used to work for the feds. And in similar cases like this the person that knew and did not snitch, many times got in more trouble than the person who committed the act.

Lets just be honest here, Louisville looks really bad once again. From the top down they make it seem as if there is no morals or ethics in any of their men's programs. Bottom line is as far as roasting and image this will do nothing to Louisville. Were talking about a program that has used hookers and paid for sex to give their basketball team an advantage in recruiting and on the court. Their title should come down with at least 3 major players being proven to be part of this scandal and all wins should be vacated and major probation should incur. Bottom line is their administration and athletics departments in Football and Basketball is a cess pool for corruption. But yet nothing will happen.

I have already said on here a couple of times that I felt Jurich's statement was bad. Well not the whole thing just the last part where he kind of blew it off.

I admit most of the fire is coming from Jurich's press release. If he would have said he was disappointed in the coaches or some normal BS coaches speak Louisville wouldn't be getting half the heat they are.

So the UL fan is spinning this away from his beloved, honest university. Like that wasn't expected.

Will any of you redbreasted lemmings ever get tired of your scum bag AD and coaching staffs constantly embarrassing your university and city or is it merely all about winning? I know the answer, so this is mostly rhetoric.

Yes. But UL DID NOT HAVE to accept and use and deny and lie; then try to defend, downplay and deflect.

You wonder, could Jurich's response be the kind of thing that the NCAA Commitee handing down penalties for Hookergate looks at and says, "Man, this guy just fundamentally does not get it"? Thereby, prompting them to pull that banner down?

I think UL, VA Tech and Army should be punished for their lack of integrity. I'm ashamed if Army did this...just pathetic if so.

I don't think Lamar Jackson should have to give up the Heisman. That seems like an absurd leap to me given what we know, and that the plays were offensive plays.

The Wake Forest guy is a POS. He should struggle to find a legit job again. No one should hire him to work for their business as he has no loyalty, integrity and cannot be trusted with any important information. He should have to work at a warehouse, McDonalds or Walmart, and even struggle to get on at those establishments.

Ah yes, the classic "everybody was doing it" argument. The last haven of those without the courage or ethics to do the right thing.

The more things that pile up the more it looks like lack of institutional control in my opinion. Jurich just doesn't care as long as the teams keep winning. How many schools would have stood by Pitino during the whole Sypher incident? Then again stand by him during the strippers for recruits and players? Now you have him standing by his football coach who is part of a cheating situation with the other team's playbook.

I swear Jurich seems like a mob boss who does whatever he wants until the feds (NCAA) finally put a stop to it. Unfortunately, the feds don't seem interested in stopping it. At least not in a reasonable amount of time. I'd excuse the NCAA somewhat if they actually were accomplishing something with the other big scandal at UNC****. It's like they are milking these investigations out in the hope everyone will just forget about them.

To be honest, I'm not sure why Petrino seems to have been spared here when he is the one who absolutely 100% lied from the get go. His natural response is to lie. He lied when he was at Louisville, Atlanta, Arkansas and now at Louisville again. He's a dishonest person and he's a liar.

Most people in the world say the hate two things, a liar and a thief. He's both and yet people keep defending him. It's ok though. It's not our problem.

I'll also add, there's a lot of Louisville fans saying (not you though @red rage2016) it's not a big deal and that several teams did it, it was only a few plays that they didn't use anyway, blah blah blah..... THEN WHY DID PETRINO LIE ABOUT IT!?!

If you had anything good left inside you, you would condemn Louisville and stop rooting for them. Yet here you are defending the dirtiest school in the NCAA.
