Wake Forest is making it really hard for me to dislike them...

I've been skimming a couple of their message boards trying to find anything close to **** talking and this is about the closest I could get...<div>
</div><div>They even quote sixpack but other than those couple of posters... I haven't seen anything other than respect and excitement to play us and just hopes of having a good game. Can't say I'm used to that...</div><div>
</div><div>ETA: Out of respect to Wake20, I corrected mymisspellingof Forest. I hope you accept my humblest... typo correction.</div>

Same thing I was reading - also, it's like they're more excited about an excuse to go to Nashville than anything. Football appears to be just extra entertainment to them.

This is good. They (WF Players) need to stay pumped the whole month of December and
work their tails off once exams are finished.
Do our players take exams? **

C'mon, son. We're an academic school. Athletics have always been extra entertainment.

about basketball, which it seems they're pretty good at..traditionally. I think it's a fairly expensive school with academically high standards.

$42,500 in tuition and has 7,000 students. That's 5,000 students less than Vandy. We should destroy Wake Forest. They are like Duke is in football. Bad small non athletic team with no depth. MSU 42 WFU 13

and you're right, Wake fans are very likable. Sort of like State in that they are self-loathing at times (their version of We are...EmState is Weak Forest or lowf...lowly ole wake forest). After living with some Wake grads, they are waaaaaaay more patient with their football team and have rational expectations. Probably the flipside happens with us and them, however, during basketball season. Only thing is, they suffer a little I think from not having a natural rival.<div>
</div><div>I'm really excited about playing them in a bowl. Very cautious though, because they will come to play. I don't think it will be that easy.</div>

Although they haven't played near the competition as we have, they have at least beaten much better teams which is more than we can say. They've beaten a ranked FSU team and an ok NCST team and were in most of their losses with the exception of Vandy. They could have beaten Clemson, Syracuse and Notre Dame. Don't let the Vandy game fool you. I'm sure these boys will play and are capable of beating us. This isn't a gimme.

Seriously, the only really snotty remark I saw last night was a dig at State folks. "Well obviously we're on opposite ends of the intelligence spectrum."

That gets under my skin a little, I suppose, but if all they have is IQ or GPA smack I can live with that. I told him his SAT wouldn't help on Dec 30. Remember Smoot's comment to the Vandy player? :) Will be a good time for all and a Bulldog victory if we play as we're capable of playing. Forgive lack of paragraphs - this looks right on my phone but yuku isn't recognizing my line breaks.

Wake is some kind of academic powerhouse, other than excellent university hospital/decent med school. It costs a shitload of money, like any other private school, but isn't Vandy, Duke, Davidson, etc.

I will say this, Jim Grobe is the best thing that could have ever happened to Wake football. He's a solid coach and they pay him well. The fanbase, albeit small, isn't too bad usually. And, noticeably, no 'bandwagon' fans like Duke/UNC around NC which is nice.

There were absolutely no misspelled words or even typos.<div>

..At least as much as an opposing fan base can be likable. The only real negativity coming from them toward us is that we are another SEC team.

there's a couple of them that have no issue admitting the SEC is difficult. Both of these are from the same thread, but just to make things simpler: exhibit 1 and 2.<div>
</div><div>That is seriously... unbelievable to me. Personally... I'm not big on chest bumping just because we are in the SEC and demand that teams show us respect for that reason, because honestly I don't even think we have done too much this season nor do we have the history that demands respect, but it does get annoying when you have fans from other conferences that hate the SEC because of the amount of competition and choose to act as if it's undeserving of all of the accolades it's received.</div><div>
</div><div>It almost seems that whenever I encounter fans of another conference, they try their best to downplay the road our team has to travel simply because they do not like our conference. Pretty much... a holier than thou attitude. Hell, I've even heard lesser schools in a couple of the bigger conference and even the ones in C-USA (but that's to be expected) try to talk **** about our run last year simply because they do not like our conference affiliation. This is just new to me. I kind of wish a lot of the other fans outside of the SEC I've had to deal with were like them honestly.</div>
