That is the word out of Lexington this morning at least. It is pretty amazing what cal has done since he has gotten to Lexington.

game itself could be much better. I think the Hump was literally shaking during our comeback. Now, a better outcome? Yes.

It's real simple. Calipari has marketed himself over time and built up this image and persona of the guy who will do everything in his power to help you become a high draft pick. It's almost as if he's got this image within AAU circles of the guy that cares more about your future NBA career than he does about winning basketball games.

Of course, having that image helps him get the guys that win basketball games too. Bottom line, these players he's recruiting don't care one bit about college basketball. It's just a stop over for them on the way to the league. Rather than fighting it and trying to get players to stay extra years or getting disappointed when a player leaves early, Cal has embraced that system, so that he's now more of an agent to his players than a coach.

From this point forward, he's always going to be high on the list with the top players because of that. The top players and their handlers (and AAU coaches) really only care about one thing, where they get drafted and how much money it means for their pockets. Cal has built himself up as the coach that cares the most about getting those things, hence he gets the players.

They have 2 of the best post players in the class and 2 of the best PGs in the class, 1 of whom would have been a top 5 lottery pick this season. Are you F'n kidding me?!?!?!

Four 5* players?!?!

Unreal.

And friggin Patterson returned!!!

The SEC is gonna be fun next season.

the talk around here (Lexington) is that it'll be a simple matter of cutting loose some of the players.

A talented UK is always good for the SEC. Somebody needs to put the talent bar back to where it needs to be in our conference.

Call me wooly for the future of SEC basketball, but I see the SEC potentially emerging as the premier basketball conference after the next 5 or so years. I know most people only talk about the benefits of the SEC/ESPN tv deal with regards to football. But, lets not forget that basketball coverage is going to TRIPLE. That's going to be huge for recruiting at each school. Talent goes to where the exposure is. Throw in the "Kentucky Factor", and SEC basketball is going to be forced down everyone's throats in due time.

baaah.

we get 2 guys and there are multiple articles all over espn. UK nabs what, 5 blue chip players in the span of 2 months, and nobody's even suggested anything about UK.

plus, the guys they signed weren't told no thanks by multiple other programs.

It's laughable to compare the two. Oh, and Cal has been accused of cheating many times.

I'll agree with that. The SEC gets very limited national coverage in basketball right now (at least in terms of ESPN coverage), and I have to think that has a lot to do with the drop in talent in the league. The ESPN deal will change that.

and yes, I'm aware that UK has a much better tradition in basketball, obviously. If he'd even gotten 3 players that were 4 stars, I'd understand, but he's recruited a whole new team made of the top players in the country and nobody has hinted at anything in the media. As has been stated previously, usually prospects like that are recruited from very early on and by major programs. Now in 2 months they've all changed their mind to go play at UK.

just to Memphis. But players like to play for coaches, not schools. Wall and Cousins were going to Memphis until he left.

<div style="text-align:right"></div>people thought it was a back up to Wall, but he just said screw it, I'll sign both.

And Daniel Orton was already committed when Cal took the job. Same with Jon Hood.

Don't know anything about Dodson.

Luckily he did have a full season. He already had Hood and Orton when he came there, and he snagged Cousins and Wall from having recruited them at Memphis.

He has been accused of cheating HUNDREDS of times thru the last decade and a half, but this one actualy makes sense and is easily explained.

Dodson signed with Memphis and was released from his LOI when Cal made the switch.

I think you will see two solid contibutors out of this class - Orton and Wall, with Wall's being limited to one season, if he is eligible. But he is good enough to make that one season pretty special.

I think Cousins is a head case and won't like playing second fiddle behind Orton, Patterson, and the Pilgrim kid who sat out last year. All three of them will work circles around him. I think Hood will be an eventual transfer and Bledsoe will not like backing up Wall and the next guy Cal recruits over him.

Dodson might prove to be a steady role player and the fact that he has 3 years of eligibility remaining makes it worth a shot.

One thing to keep in mind - Wall, Cousins, and Bledsoe have not been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse.

Because Crean is recruiting over him so fast he was getting dizzy. He saw the writing on the wall. If he was going to be a part of IU's resurgence, he was going to gather a few splinters in his ***.

God that was difficult to read.

Didnt MSU recruit Nick Williams last spring during Crean's transition from Marquette to Indiana? He is a solid scorer who started a ton for IU last season as a true freshman. Wasnt a good outside shooter, but he did well, considering the circumstances he found himself in last season.

I dont get the comiss thing...parody i hope?

when Crean left MU for IU. He is a solid player that went into college with the size necessary to play as a freshman. I would have loved to have had him at MSU. Thus far the Anthony Grant experience has yet to pay any dividends for Bama roundball.

They have a good SG coming in, but Williams started for them all last year, he would have the expeirence and growth from that to help contribute still.

Why wouldnt Story, who is a replica of Williams from how he plays to also being a freshman only less of a contributor last season be the one to splinter his ***?
Same for Roth.

They have a talented incoming class, but its clearly loaded with post players. The perimeter makeup isnt being impacted much by the 09 class. They will still have Jones and that JUCO kid who threw elbows all over, as well as Story and Roth...who both looked the same if not worse than Williams last season.

Just doesnt seem like he is being recruited over with only 1 new player at his position and him having started so much last season.

Sidney better damn sure be eligible and play like the #1 player in the draft predicted him to be in 2010 draft 2 years ago.

Bledsoe was deemed eligible today. The others are still pending. Rumor has it that Cousins had a 3.4 GPA, which--if true--means he would need a 13 or 14 on his ACT.

Exactly. People are making way too big of a deal about having too many scholarship players. You simply cut the ones who can't make the top 13. If you have to lose a scholarship or two to the APR, you just go with your best 12 or best 11. That's a lot better alternative then not signing a player (or players) who can help you win games.

If that true, their loss. The dude was outside an abandoned house that had no signs of foced entry and he had taken nothing from there.
