Interesting. I'm not sure he's even the best player on his team. If his competition is Russell or Bumphis, I don't think he wins it. Surprised their nominee wasn't Moncrief.

But to Bo's credit, he was better than Banks head-to-head. Apparently that was all he needed to win the award.

On Head to Head, they mentioned that well over a majority of votes were cast after last Saturday night.

Conerly lost credibility tonight.

So one game is more important than a complete body of work? Wallace played well all year and against us, but he also threw 2 interceptions against us. This trophy is stupid, What did Wallace do to win it?

What a joke. Banks is one of 3 finalists for the Jim Thorpe Award for the best DB in the nation.

So the guy that lead the SEC in turnovers is the best player in Mississippi, interesting.

Um, wow. Moncrief is much better than wallace. Wallace isnt a good qb. He is a turnover machine that makes awful decisions and has a noodle arm.

Donte may be the best sec wr as a soph. Stupid. Even wallace getting it over russell is a head scratcher.

I don't care if banks had the worst year of his career, he's a Mississippi boy that is an All American and has had an excellent 4 year career and will go down as one of the best to play at MSU yet will never own a Conerly which he should. I know the award is a yearly thing but his body of work should be enough. Specially to a guy who threw as many ints as TDs nearly.

****, Wallace got benched multiple times this year in favor of Brunetti, they even burned the redshirt on a true freshman QB because Wallace was sucking *** so bad. 15 INT's and several fumbles. If he took care of the ball, Ole Miss probably wins 1-2 more games. So the best player in the state is a turnover machine that cost his team games.

Thats the problem, it's not supposed to be an Egg Bowl trophy. Its supposed to be a best player in Mississippi Trophy. The whole thing is a scam.

They could fix the problem by either allowing scouts to vote, like the Ferris Trophy, or have a 3 votes during the year. Teams play 12 games, and there should be a vote after the first 4 games, after the 8th game, and then after the 12th game. After the final vote, you tally up all the votes from the whole year and then person with the most wins. MLB uses this sort of thinking in All-Star games voting. It allows the entire season to be taken into account and not just the final game.

Stupid and uncredible award right now if you ask me.

The problem with the Conerly is it discredits all scouting reports and postseason awards. If you can't go by those, what can you go by? I think the athletic department should say F U next year and not even submit a finalist.

How did they lose any more credibility than they lost when they gave the trophy to a Div. II player? I hate to say it, but Banks complete body of work is pretty damn lacking in his senior season. He got torched for a lot of big plays and touchdowns. Not completely his fault though as he is playing out of position. He is not a cornerback. He is a safety playing corner. Wallace had a very good season and was the difference between 3-9 and 6-6 for their team. Moncrief is clearly the best player in Mississippi, but he would have done nothin this year if Barry Brunetti had been their QB.

Bumphis had a better year than Banks did this year. We really should have nominated him.

Wallace is one heck of a QB don't know why it's so hard for this board to admit that. Now deserving of the Conerly........ All that could be debated.
Based on just this season, Banks did not have his best. He had a great season (the strip against TN, The pick against MTSU), but our secondary as a whole was exposed later on. Now thats not all banks fault, but his speed is his weakness still.

I think the Conerly went to Wallace on a very emotional vote. If MSU wins Saturday night and Banks has 1 interception in the game I think it would swing the opposite way.

Bo Wallace has made Hugh Freeze this year! Freeze better be so thankful he landed Wallace because without him that is 3 to 4 win team. They don't beat us, Ark, or Auburn. As a MSU fan we now hope for the Ole Miss QB curse to reveal its self. Spurlock..... Schaffer..... Snead..... Wallace????

I think the award went to the correct person for just 1 season of work. Now career Banks hands down was deserving of the award.

HE is just not consistent..

He may throw a bomb for a touchdown and the next time they get the ball, his first pass will be straight to the other team..

The Manning Award did not even acknowledge Wallace's performance last week. He wasn't on the preseason or midseason watch list. Tyler Russell was - let that sink in.

Exactly, I really don't know what to think of Wallace. He makes some great plays and great throws and he makes some terrible throws and terrible mistakes at key times as well. He PERSONALLY made 3 turnovers against us (2 INTs and a fumble) in the first half its just that our offense was too inept Saturday to do anything with them. The OM defense kept them in the game long enough to let the OM offense finally take control of things in the 3rd quarter.
