And MSU is confident the new contract takes care of Mullen and the staff well enough that they all stay.

And as someone posted earlier, if he does indeed turn down an offer like Florida, I'm not going to be worried from here on out. Not saying he won't leave eventually, but I'm not going to fret over the coaching turnover.

Yet the other site reports that he has not been offered the Florida job.
These "reporters" are very entertaining but I doubt they know much more than most on here.

Wardlaw shoots pretty straight. He has good sources. And when he has an opinion, he'll tell you its just his opinion instead of something that he "knows".

Here is what he said:

Well guys... I've talked to enough people and feel like I've heard just
about everything at this point. Everybody has a source and everybody
has heard something they think to be true.

Here's what I can say that I've learned today...

Mullen to Miami ... just not in the cards as things stand right now.

Florida has high interest in Mullen. Has he been offered... I'm told that's the case... but I can't say with certainty.

Mississippi State is a very confident place these days! The decision
will certainly be Dan Mullen's to make but the Bulldogs feel they are
positioned well enough to keep their coach. The contract that is being
finalized is strong and will keep Mullen the rest of the staff pleased
to stay at Mississippi State and build a program.

Now, I know things can change rapidly in this business, but as we stand
right now... Mississippi State fans can rest easy because their coach
doesn't have a moving truck at his house!

I have heard recruits saying that our big pitch against big schools is to be the first to do something here and be remembered. The first coach to win a national championship will establish a legacy at MSU. Even now when UF is mentioned, I still think of Spurrier. At Bama, every coach will always just be taking care of the Bear's program he built. The recruiting base in Mississippi is good enough to compete in the SEC.

In a way, I'm glad they finally offered (if that is indeed the case). The sooner this is over, the better. The bitter?
I feel that the Mullens want to stay in Starksville for a while. Now, I'm running off of about one hour of sleep and little to no food in the last 30hrs. but I'm confident in Mullen and his words. He seems like a class act, and I know that he's paid to be the coach and act the way he does, but I want to believe that those words are not hollow, and that he and wife Megan really do love it here in this little football town in rural MS. Only time will tell. He knows the choices and he's weighing them carefully, Mullen is an intelligent man. He can stay, be a walking God while here and move on after he's created something - maybe stay longer, who know? Or, he could leave now, seem like a bit of a guy that will say whatever it takes and smile doing it. Reminding me of something no one wants to be associated with - an 80s business guy. But only he can have the final say.

HEROES ARE REMEMBERED, BUT LEGENDS NEVER DIE
You hear that, Dan? Megan? Whomever is listening/reading?
We Love you. Hope you're happy in whatever you choose.

Gotta go. Exam @ 8

At 4:45 P.M yesterday he said that his source at MissStatetold him that Mullen either had in hand or one was on the way from Florida. The bottom line is this, these guys don't know **** and until Mullen comes out andsay I just sign my new contract with State or Florida or who ever,I'm not believing any body.

I'll never question the man again when he gives us his word that he is happy here ... at first I assumed he was speaking the typical "coach" kinda talk that is always expected in these situations ... but nobody can argue actions over words

Charlie Strong would be their number 2.

No doubt this is the largest test any team in the country would face.

Coach Mullen is a genuine guy and good man. He and his family LOVE MSU and Starkville!

We aren't Ole Miss and this isn't Tubberville. He is in a great situation here with a legitimate shot of some great things, but the prestige of the UF football program may be impossible to ignore.

I am just tired of guys going the on radio and saying things like they are in the know and it turns out they don't know ****. These local radio jocks and the guest they haveor all idiots. Yesterday he was saying it was a done deal with Florida. I was sittingin my carthinking how in the hell did they get a contract done in four hours. It was just annonced around lunch time. These guys need to use their heads when saying things on the radio. What he saying last night was 360 degrees from what he was saying three hour before. They need to make sure their **** is right before they say it. All of them.

We cannot compete with Florida on money, facilities, or location. But
we can offer him the opportunity to achieve something at State that he
can never do at Florida, no matter how much money they throw at him:

Be the first coach to lead the school to the SEC Championship and the BCS National Championship.

Dan Mullen will be a legend if he stays and does that. His grandchildren can
come to campus and see buildings and rooms named after him (and probably Megan, too), photos on stadium
banners, a statue... he will become part of the history of the
institution.

At Florida, the best he can be is the caretaker who did the job after
Spurrier and Meyer and "continued" the legacy. He cannot start it.
(And he will be on the HOT seat without a 9 or 10 win season NEXT YEAR.)

Something in my gut tells me he is staying.

But, I'm starting to realize that whenever a journalist, blogger, ESPN commentator, web site admin, cites "sources" - then they basically read it off a message board or talked to somebody who read it off a message board.

Unless somebody fixes a respectable name to the "inside information" - I'm going to rank that info next to Bleacher Report articles in terms of reliability and accuracy.
