I was kind of worried he would be included. He is a year older than Josh though and his last name isn't Morgan. He has been HC at two different schools.

Hell, I think I would've even liked Buddy Wooten. At least Brewer's son didn't get it (who just so happens to be an assistant at Warren Central now too)

When I played at WC from 2002-2005, and not to sound like a pansy or nothing, but we were the only team that we played still doing things "old school". Old-school offense, old-school practices, old-school uniforms and helmets, etc.. Those kids that play there should have 6A-level equipment and 6A-level coaching. I honestly don't know if another Morgan at the reigns is going to change anything. They have got to get out of the 'ram it down your throat and your gonna like it even if it doesn't work' attitude. It was painful to go back to Vburg and watch a game last fall.

It sucked playing under it, then watching it on a higher level on Saturdays.

$hitty about it was that Brian left WC several years ago desparately wanting to be the future WC head coach but knew he had to be a head coach somewhere else before they would hire him, so he packed up and left became the head coach in Stone County. Afterall, superintendent and principals at the time also persuaded him to leave for the "good "of his career and future hopes. Good ole boy still alive and well. It won't change anything, daddy Morgan will still run the show like he has been doing behind the scenes "part-time" as an assistant coach for the last four, five years and 20 years before that. That program was a dynasty for decades, now in terrible shape, nobody trying out for football, etc.etc. Heres an idea from a former Gator alumni, one high school!

First of all, who didn't expect this? This is Vicksburg we're talking about. Politics will rule the day. Merit has no place.

Second, Warren Central was nota dynasty. The wontwo state championships totalin 88 and 94.Jesus one more for the Saints and they got a dynasty!

As a Vicksburg Gator I have to say it can't get any worse. I mean we are beating them these days. They have no business losing to Vicksburg with all their SWAC imitating, choppin wood, ghetto trash coaches.

Good luck Morgan from one bulldawg to another.

Maybe not a dynasty, but consistently one of the top teams in the state. WC always seemed to have a problem going deep in the playoffs. Much like Stans in the NCAA Tourney (to make this post bulldawg related).

I don't think he was the perfect choice for the job, but I hope he does well, and who knows, he played at State during some of our better days and was decent for a white safety. We all know how those work out. I got to play under Oakes and he would have been my first choice. He and Buddy Wooten (2nd choice) were the best coaches on that staff as far as I'm concerned.

#2 Warren Central came down to Laurel to play West Jones in the quarterfinals thinking they were headed to a semifinal showdown with #1 South Natchez for the state title and got their asses handed to them 21-7. Still one of my better high school football memories. Unfortunately, South Natchez beat West Jones and then Starkville to win the first ever state title.

Well let me start this post by saying I for one played under Robert Morgan and Curtis Brewer. When coach Morgan "retired" and came back as an assistant , he still basically ran the show. My senior year Josh was somehow hired and put ahead of other coaches and named instantly the defensive coordinator. What a joke. He may have been a decent football player but a terrible coach. I mean Horrible. I was all state my junior year and led the team in tackles and tackles for loss. When Josh took over, our defense went from being ranked number 1 in the state to nonexistent. I can give examples all day of how idiotic he is as a coach.

Brian Oakes was the best coach on the coaching staff when I was there at Wc. He worked hard to make us better and pushed every player. I liked Coach Oakes because he pushed me to be the best and I was what I became because of the hard work he put me through. That being said he has coached for 4 years now as a head coach which exceeds Josh Morgans total experience as a coach. Also, Buddy Wooten is by far the smartest offensive minded coach I have ever been around. He would have also been my second choice for the job. My 8th grade team only won 2 games and when he took over as our 9th grade coach we were 8-1 and won the championship.

Warren Central is /was a dynasty at one point because of the championships and 22 year consecutive playoff run. The number one problem is James Price(superintendant) and Lum Wright(AD). Until these two people are gone from the Vicksburg Warren School District , which by the way is a laughing stock because of their inability to make proper decisions, Warren Central will continue to suffer. For those who dont know, Lum Wrights dad was a coach at Wc and is in bed with the morgans. I personally believe that they schemed a plan for Josh to become the head coach. I will no longer support the program at warren central until the right changes are made. I hope that Buddy Wooten leaves the program and gets a big time opportunity somewhere. Bumper Brogdon left the coaching staff last year when Brewers son was hired. I believe that he saw this whole thing about to unfold right infront of him and he got out before it happened. That place is a joke now with the morgans and brewers seemingly doing what and as they please.

Lum Wright tried to blackball one of friends from getting a job. He made up some bullcrap story about him as justification.

I disagree on one: That's pretty retarded to quit supporting a team you played for just because you don't believe the right guy got the job.

Also, if Josh was hired your senior year, that makes you one year younger than me. I would have been a senior on the team whenever you were all-state. Because I'm not sure if I remember anyone getting all-state on our team my senior year.

Yeah price needs to go too. There is no way he can honestly think that Josh Morgan is the most qualified man for the job. BULLDOG KA- WHo are you? I was second team all state my junior year. I have the pamphlet and newspaper articles to prove it. It may not be first team but it is all state non the less.
Also on ending my support... Surely you dont think what all went on is right. I mean WC is all politics and if you played there with me you should know that. They arent fooling me with this. I will no longer support WC just because of the administration and its decisions of the coaching staff. I feel sorry for the guys that have to play there under this regime. Josh may end up being a decent coach in the long run, but how can a board truthfully say he is the most qualified for the job. You cannot honestly say that Oakes, Wooten, or the coach from forest who has taken teams to jackson were not better suited for the job. A 3-2 vote also shows that.

Lets examine the voters on the school board who voted for Morgan. Tommy Shelton- his kids grew up at warren central and his close family friends son was good friends with Brett Morgan and played ball with him at MSU.
Jerry Boland- is a close family friend of robert morgan and his kids also attended wc.
Now I dont know anything about the other voter , I do know that these two voted yes because of the last name of you guessed it... Morgan. Its a sad sad time to be an alum of WC

I didn't play football at WC, but I went there, and you're right, the Vicksburg Warren School District is an inbred laughing stock staffed by egotistical morons. Lum Wright and James Price are seriously awful at what they do.

Vicksburg as a city is the exact opposite of a meritocracy. Most good ole boy network of any city in the great state, and that's saying a lot.

and have been surprised to hear, on my trips back to Vicksburg, how many people are in favor of total consolidation.

I understand the arguments against it, but I don't think a unified Warren County high school would be the monstrosity that Madison Central was. The imperative of keeping a racial balance may make it inevitable anyway.

Both schools are now 6a schools and combining them would be a mistake. It would put the school as probably the largest in the state, if not the largest one of them. It will just be more chaos with the same people running the show. Someone has to stop them (price inparticular) from running around as he pleases as well as Lum Wright and the Morgans. The thing is, in warren county the voters do not elect the schools superintendant or the athletic director positions. They have to be removed by the school board and lets face it, the chances of that happening are worse than me trying to win the lottery

Andallegedly VHS is really only 6A on the day they do the headcounts. Combining would certainly make them one of the bigger 6A schools but not the biggest. There would probably still be 3 or 4 bigger, I don't know. The numbers are online somewhere. From what I've heard Price is pushing towards consolidation when he's not performing his most important function- hiring football coaches. I really don't hear a lot of people complaining about it either. And to tell the truth, while VHS has fallen off badly the last few years by academic standards, THIS is really the first I've heard of people wanting Price gone.

At some point VHS will reach a tipping point and whites just won't want to send their kids there, like you see in the Delta. You already have plenty that have avoided VHS strictly because it had more blacks, but now the academics are apparently getting worse too. It's not a good situation.

and the regular classes were much worse than WC. But most of the truly great teachers of those classes have almost, if not all, retired. Therefore, I'm sure the school has sank worse into dysfunction, and it wouldn't surprise me to see a consolidation within the next 10 years.
