It seems a sizable amount of the fan base is more concerned about seeing Riley gone, and could care less on the outcome of the next 9.
It is seriously pathetic. It almost seems like some are cheering for NU to lose. It seems like some are downright giddy to see Riley fired. I log onto the board after work and all I see are threads about when Riley is fired, who NU's next coach is going to be, etc. I look at Facebook real quick and see basically the same thing. We sure are a sad fan base. I hope Riley wins out or at least a majority of the remaining games. Last thing we need is another coaching change.
Which is why the timing of the Eichorst firing sucked. Don't have a problem letting the guy go. Just don't see why it had to be yesterday.
Never want Nebraska to lose no matter what. But if they do,,, then BECAUSE OF THE TIMING,,, I have some hope that things can change.

Riley wins out and I'd wager some money that people would stop calling for his head.
He's the one that has been in charge of his own destiny here, not the fans.
Coaches are hired to win games. Win games and you'll have happy fans. Lose, while looking pathetic in the process and you'll have unhappy fans.

I'm deeply offended by this. My heritage is German. It was a LONG time ago when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. They are contrite. They've largely rehabbed themselves as a nation. That was a VERY long time ago. For crying out loud, it is time to move on!
That should be all of our hopes. I think the situation will help Riley be a better coach. He has nothing to lose so he might as well pull out all the stops.
Here's what I hope does not happen. I don't want us ending up 6-7 or even 7-6. It's no man's land and would be horrible for all involved.
