Was wondering about Marcus Green's eligibility and found this.

"Despite Green redshirting his first year on the Starkville campus, he would be able to apply for a medical redshirt year but that process doesn’t occur according to NCAA rules until the student-athlete’s eligibility has expired."

We definitely missed him this year but I would certainly love to have him two more years.

pass-catching stud Tight End, of course not to mention Nick Bell...

Isn't it strange how little we've complained about how unlucky we are this year? In the past, we'd be given up for dead with one player out. Now, we have 3 -- and I'd say 3 of our top 5 playmakers -- gone, but Mullen has us to the point where he just plugs someone else in and we move on. (Of course, Bumphis is a huge blow, and we've yet to play a game without him so I may eat these words.)

But still - another sign we're turning a corner.

I honestly think that this is the biggest difference between MSU and the other big time SEC programs. Our starting 22 are as good as most anybody in the SEC in a typical year, but we have to start some true freshmen typically while most SEC teams are made up of RS juniors and seniors, and the underclassmen that do play are typically very good players. And while the other teams underclassmen are their role players and they can sub them in and rest their starters, we're getting worn out.

That's also why it's really important for us to be in top physical condition and why Balis is so critical for us. One of the ways we can overcome our lack of depth is to be in better shape than everyone else.

as much as it is Mullen's ability to gameplan around our deficiencies.

My guess is Macrus Green being out hurt us much more than we realized; I think having a sure handed, large targetoutletcould have made a big difference for Relf over the course of the yeaer. But still, the damage was limited b/c our qb play already limited us in that facet of the game, and it was hard to notice b/c Green got hurt before we had really put any passing game together outside of Memphis.

Berry was a little different. He had something a little different than the rest of our wide receivers and had the ability to be our clear #1 widereceiver going deep, but we hadn't really been able to take advantage of that facet of the game anyway so it's not clear how much losing him hurt us.

How we do without Bumphis will really be telling. That's the one place where we do have depth is the slot type receivers, even if it's young and inexperienced. If Heavens can imitate Bumphis and (I think he can come close) and some of the other guys can take on Heaven's role (which I'm more worried about, unless maybe Perkins can do it),to me that will reallysay something about how Mullen is developing players for his system.

I think we realize that it hurt, but I don't think we care as much because we won 8 games this year. Relf was able to get the job done without him this year, but I think it would have been a lot less painful to watch at times if we had Marcus Green on the field. That being said, I think Marcus Green is the difference in us winning a game next year that we shouldn't. He always finds a way to make a huge play that we haven't usually been able to make. I can't wait for him to get back on the field.

seem to think injuries is the only reason we beat Georgia, Houston, Florida and Kentucky. Conveniently forgetting about MSU's critical injuries.
