The Westfield defense did just about all it could to win the game but got very little help from their offense. Far too many dropped passes and passes that were either off target and/or INC due to route running was the norm. Two critical WF mistakes on offense/special teams also contributed to Washington-Liberty's win. W-L, on the other hand, used its massive O-line and the outstanding running of RB Black to get a come from behind 14-13 win. W-L's double coverage on WF's Lee by DBs Reed and Whitaker took Lee totally out of the game but RB Black was the decisive factor in their win. Except for one long 46 yard run in the fourth quarter to set up the winning TD, just about all of his many yards were bruising inside runs.

W-L started the game on their own 18 yard line and just two plays into the game W-L's Flint-Steining was intercepted by WF's Webster for a pick six. After the Batchala XP WF led 7-0 just 44 seconds into the game. W-L's next possession reached the WF 47 but a long rolling punt pinned WF at their two yard line. On the very first snap the ball squirted between Carlson's legs as he stood in the end zone so he picked it up and ran out of the end zone for a safety, 7-2 WF. W-L then got a good KOR on a short KO and eventually reached the WF 34 yard line where they faced a 4th and 9. The pass fell incomplete and WF took over. After gaining ground to the W-L 38 yard line WF punted but the ball went into the end zone to give W-L the ball on their own 20 yard line. The two teams then proceeded to trade punts three times for the rest of the half and went to the locker room with the score 7-2 in favor of WF.

WF received the second half KO and let the ball bounce free, ending up being pinned on their own 8 yard line. WF did reached their own 34 yard line but then punted to give W-L possession on the W-L 24 yard line. A few plays later W-L's Fullen caught a 27 yard Flint-Steinig pass at the WF 25 yard line To set up a 10 yard Black TD run to give W-L an 8-7 lead with 11:56 remaining in the 4th quarter. After this TD W-L elected to go for two given the one point differential but the snap was mishandled by Flint-Steinig and the attempt failed. WF then drove 68 yards to retake the lead on a Johnson 1 yard leap over the line to retake lead at 13-8 with 6:36 remaining in the game. WF also elected to go for a 2XP and did complete the pass-except the score was nullified by a holding call. WF then brought out the XP team but the snap was poor and the XP attempt never got off. W-L then received a 24 yard KOR from Dennis to start at their own 32 yard line. Behind the running of Black, including a 46 yard run to the WF 22 yard line, W-L pounded the ball with Black to eventually get their second TD of the game, this one a one yard run by Black, to go back in front 14-13 with 2:29 remaining in the game. The 2XP pass was well defended so the score remained 14-13 in favor of W-L. WF started their next possession on their own 20 yard line but failed on a 4th and 10 at their own 36 yard line. Despite the great field position W-L lost yardage and elected to punt the ball back to WF to keep WF deep in their own territory at their own eight yard line. WF receivers then dropped four consecutive catchable balls and gave the ball back to W-L with under a minute to go in the game and W-L went into victory formation.
