Wasn't real impressed with our OL

Clausell got beat a couple times in pass protection. We couldn't smash the ball in on 4 tries inside the 5 on our 3rd drive. I didn't think we got great push on the inside either.

The oline was very underwhelming and it seemed that most of it came from the middle. Make Beckwith a swing guy and try Clayborn. I saw Senior get beat a couple of times as well and Day didn't play great. Hopefully it was first game jitters and a ****** field. Malone seemed to be the only one who played well for most of the game.

Day wasn't great. And I agree, the interior was a bit of a let down. I thought we could maul them inside G-C-G.

What I saw said it was more an issue of blown assignments than physical talent. The 4th down stop on the goal was clearly a mistake on someone's part....the MLB was the only guy from either team waiting at the point of attack.

That looked like the guy Griffin should have picked up as the lead blocker. He came to the line and helped a lineman to his left rather than taking on the guy standing right in the hole. If he would have taken on the MLB it was an easy score.

The OL did look like the weak link to me also. One thing that will help next time we get inside the 5 will be #32 in the backfield.

There are a 1/2 dozen opponents where blown assignments get your QB killed. If he goes down ....

From what I saw, there were a lot of missed assignments on the OL. It looks as if they haven't gelled yet on when to help and when not to. In addition, Beckwith just got whooped a couple of times. Senior got blown up on the goal-line. I was disappointed in Day as well, not his best game. i think he is used to just helping to his right while Gabe was doing his thing to the left. On the goal line, Dak should have changed the play at the line. USM had the middle packed and the edge was open for the taking as was shown on 3rd down. Why we didn't go back to the edge on 4th, I don't know. It didn't make sense given the defense's alignment.

This. I think we were being hardheaded and determined to run up the middle. Which we probably could have done if we had spread the field and our gaps. Best to try and figure it out now though.
