How much could it cost ? A one month subscription to YouTube TV ??? It's just a bigger TV and a bigger living room

What would everyone in the outfield watch? How would you make it better than watching from your own couch?
I think watching big events in an environment like that surrounded by family, friends, and other fans is way more fun than sitting on the couch. I'd gladly pay for it and the overpriced beer that comes with it.

Have you ever been to a Sportsbook in Vegas to watch a horse race? It's approximately one million times better than watching at home by yourself.

Do you have to pay for rights to do something like this? I would hope not considering the ESPN/SEC relationship, but I have no idea.

I bet it costs 10-20K to open the doors.
I bet more than 1,000 people would come. $10 each, plus food and beer concessions. It's not hard to make the math work, and if 3,000+ people show up, you're in the cheese. Even if you lose a little on it, seems like something people would like. Local restaurants and retailers would like it too.

I know this athletic department won't do it, but thinking about it, it seems doable.

Starkville is empty. College kids aren’t coming back for a watch party. People won’t ride in from jackson for a watch party.

I don’t think you get anywhere close to 3000 and the people that do come aren’t going to the concession. They are sitting in the outfield with their own beers and food.

game is at 6 on Friday. People really going to take off work and ride down to watch the Jumbotron for one game and ride back? I don’t see it. some will, but i dont see 3000 at all. Hell we had Sunday sec games where 3000 weren’t there and there was an actual game being played

I’m not disagreeing, just curious, why do you think it’s that much? What costs are there? Electricity, some security, cleanup, what else?
Say 250 work for 15 bucks an hour from 4-12.

thats 30k

say 100 people work.. that’s still 12k. Starts getting expensive quick

Why would you need anywhere near that many people? I’d think you could get this done with a bare bones staff, but I’m not versed on the logistics of events like this. Just seems simple with everything being general admission and having limited concessions open.

You’re going to have 3000 people into a game and won’t need 100 people to run it? I would think that is bare bones. I don’t see how it can be ran with less….

unless it’s going to be a yard party, a the bathrooms in left and behind first are open, first come first serve type deal….but I assume once you charge 10 bucks to get in people are going to expect more than that.

We've never been dynamic enough to do this. There are likely some insurance issues too.

I suspect you'd struggle to get 3k people at the stadium to watch us play on tv if you gave THEM $10.
Folks in the GTR won't even take a long distance call.***

Just go to Hobbies or Stagger, any number of restaurants in Starkville.

Going to go out a limb and say you are very wrong about this. They want you in their restaurant watching the game (which many will pay for), eating and buying their food and drink

Unfortunately some restaurateurs do think like you said - the short-sighted and selfish ones - so I guess you could be right about some of the people in Starkville. I was speaking more globally, and in most markets, people who own successful restaurants know that the more people who are in town and the more events hosted in town (even if not at their specific restaurant), the more eyeballs they have and the more chances they get to get those people as guests on the way in or out. And not just today, but tomorrow, next week, or whenever they come back the next time.

I know lots of restaurant owners, and they generally have one of two attitudes:

1. "This is my restaurant, my territory, and if any other restaurants are doing well, that's bad for me. I want all the focus, screw the other guys and the rest of the neighborhood, I don't care if they ever have any customers."

OR

2. "A rising tide lifts all ships." This type realizes that if their - fill in the blank: neighborhood, city, shopping center, whatever - does well, it's better for them. This owner realizes no one is going to eat in his restaurant at every single meal or every single day, so he wants the area around him to be thriving, clean, successful and inviting so they will come back next week and maybe give him a try. This type of guy knows the more events in Starkville there are, the better he will do (assuming his product is good.)

I'll let you guess who is usually more successful in the long run.

On the retailers, is it more likely the owner of The Lodge is sitting there thinking, "I am so glad nothing is happening in Starkville this weekend", or "Damn I wish 500 extra State fans were coming into town this week"?

I didn't even mention hotel owners, but you can put them in the same category. I promise they would rather have something going in town than nothing.

I think some people would go. What that number is, we don't know and I guess we will never know. It's too bad because I'd like to know who's right - me, the optimist who loves MSU and all its fans, or negative nancies like you and... (checks notes) huntdawg.

Have two little league teams mirror the game on the field each inning, including the 2nd base do-ya-thing-dance-dance, the pitcher fist pump on the 3rd out and the bat flip on any HR followed by the dugout team BOOM

People just aren't driving to Starkville to watch a regional on a big screen. Now, if we make the CWS, maybe. Schedule a couple bands to play before/after.

We would never host another regional.

Espn would just do a live look in, stroke a few egos, then chatter about it in whatever game was boring them to tears currently.

Our administration won’t make this happen I am convinced and it’s a damn shame. We are missing a golden opportunity here!

Do you really think we're going draw a big crowd with no students in town for just a regional on a big screen? Plus, it's getting to be like
