Never been a fan of watching sports or anything else on a computer (just old fashioned I guess) but WatchESPN is fantastic. I can't get it on my own since I have Dish, but I used my son's Comcast info for my iPhone and, even though small, watching the MSU games is very possible.<div>
</div><div>But ... when you do it on an iPad, it's like having an HD television in your lap. The picture is superb.</div><div>
</div><div>Was watching it yesterday, and had the television on whatever game was on ESPNU, and when they did live interrupts for our game, I noticed the WatchESPN coverage is delayed by maybe 10 seconds ... which makes no real difference.</div>

Couldn't get watchespn to acknowledge "TV out" even though I set tv out on in iPad settings. What kind of HDMI converter are you using?

I used my Mac but I had to enable mirroring to be able to watch. Didn't have the cable to run from iPad.

the ESPN contract specifically states that ipad and iphones are supposed to block all attempts to transfer the images (sound is fine) to another display. I have tried 5 different types of cables and everytime it blocks it for me.. .how are you getting around that?

You can do it from your computer (and I do) because the computer will recognize it as just another monitor...

I even tried a work around I found online but I could not get it to work.

Supposedly, you should hook your ipad up to your tv or stream through AirPlay and open any youtube video. While the video is playing you should switch to WatchESPN and try to stream a game. I read on numerous forums how this confuses the app and allows it to play 9 out of 10 times but I was not successful in getting it to work.

I have to use my computer and plug it into the tv and it works fine.

I can get it to work on the ipad telling it to mirror what is on my screen but then it is a very small picture on my TV. Yes, I can zoom it in but the quality suffers. The best picture I have been able to get so far is from my mac computer into my tv using a HDMI cable and plugging the audio into my stereo.

That may be the difference....I have had problems with the WatchESPN app in the past.....I want to know how you are 'mirroring' from your iPad to TV....I have Apple TV, but its the first generation so it doesn't allow me to 'mirror' from my iPad, just the volume....which sucks.....but if you, or who ever stated, that you can mirror from iPad to TV, what are you using?

all i did was take the HDMI connection out of my comcast box (which runs to my Samsung TV) and plugged it directly into the Apple converter cord connected to my iPad.....it immediately popped up....however, the screen was like viewing a 19" in TV, so I just grabbed my Samsung TV remote and Zoomed it, and it doubled the size....with the HDMI cable it was as clear as any HD channel comcast offers...

From your regular screen hit the select button twice.

Swipe your finger across the bottom and you should see some different buttons. The one you want is a rectangle with a black triangle at the bottom of it, it is called airplay.

When you click on airplay you will have the option of "iPad" or "Apple TV". Click on apple tv.

As long as airplay is turned on in your apple tv, your ipad will ask for a password and then right below "Apple Tv" where you just click will be a box that says Mirroring On Off. Turn it on.

If mirroring you get both but the picture is small and the quality is not great. Then again ESPN3 on my computer right now looks awful. Don't know if it is me or the broadcast.
