Wasn't able to watch Saturday. Wanted to mention that the 3rd quarter long drive we made after Whitley's INT was a thing of beauty. Couple great back shoulder catches, solid runs, etc. Also, obviously the scoreboard doesn't reflect it but our D-line maintained solid pressure majority of the time. And lastly, I still don't like Tim Brando.

Dline and linebackers played great. Secondary played good at times and awful at times which is what lost us the game combined with the fact we only capitalized on 1 of their 3 turnovers.

If the blocked punt doesn't happen and

We don't let them score just before half, no telling what could have happen. Difference maker there IMO.

Agree on the back shoulder throws and the D-line.
I hear others not liking Brando but he is the one national guy willing to say good things about MSU. Even during the broadcast he said we're close to being good and will be very good next year. Agree with that or not at least he is willing to say it when no one else will. He also made that point on Finebaum. Hope he's right. Could be.

He's an Ole Miss fan. He's saying these things so that we calm down and keep Mullen forever.

I usually hate the what if scenarios but these things made me cringe

-Dak to Holloway throw, I think the throw was there, it looked like Holloway let up a little

-Joe Morrow had a big drop on second down to face a long third down

-Roughing the kicker on a punt after a huge stop

-Beckwith also had a pretty huge holding call, can;t remember the result of that drive though

That pretty much summarizes our season though. Pretty close at times, but too many mistakes/mental errors/lack of execution.

We should run wheel routes constantly. We have good pass catching options out of the backfield (Perkins, Holloway, Lewis), and it pulls that OLB down field which opens things up for Dak to run into the flats. Even if the MLB stays home, you still gotta get Prescott on the ground. That's not an easy thing to do in space.

It works both ways. He may be helping to "grease the skids" for Mullen's exit. For those in the Anti-Mullen camp, of which I do not belong, Brando's type of comments help raise expectations. If those expectations aren't met, it makes it easier to qualify a Mullen dismissal.

I guess it depends on your perception of Brando's comments.

Drop passes like this (or mis-judged in Holloway's case) are difference makers. I can't tell you how many times we've had dropped passes that helped lead to a stalled drive. I've been saying all year - with Dak we cannot have non-positive plays. We've got to keep the ball moving.

I'd guess we have 5 or 6 plays a game where a pass is dropped (often by Johnson or Johnson), or Robinson / Perkins slips in the backfield. It kills us because these are normally plays where 10 guys appear to have done things right and we've got yards to be gained... but then our playmakers don't make a play.

I thought we had a legitimate chance of winning

after the reverse pass from Lewis to Morrow. Momentum took a huge swing and that should have given our defense some life, but instead they ran back the kickoff and that was pretty much the end. I am with Brando. I think we are pretty close to being a solid football team.
