Robinson or Figs in the semis is gonna be tough. I'd rather have had Ventresca, though Ramos gets Spratley in the quarters.

Yeah, that's the two that worry me in his half of the bracket.

That said, 125 was a crap shoot last year, and it could be so again. A lot of really good wrestlers. No clear-cut dominant guy, as has been the case in many prior years. Interestingly, I thought Ramos might be that guy this year, but the B1G semi kind of changed my thinking.

Hard to complain about Luke getting the #1 seed. Only a die-hard optimist, or perhaps CS (and only in private conversations), would have predicted that a few weeks ago.

Mesenbrink's first round:

165 pounds: No. 1 Mitchell Mesenbrink, Penn State vs. No. 33 Chandler Amaker, Central Michigan vs. No. 32 Jared Keslar, Pittsburgh
Bearclaw got the 4. He gets Ramirez in the quarters and Mesenbrink in the semis.

We just don't know how Barr will be. As such, I hesitate to draw any conclusions. Beard in a potential quarter could be a challenge if Barr is limited. (Actually, several wrestlers could be a challenge if he can't attack in his normal manner due to his injury.)

Ferrari vs. Buchanan should be an interesting semi.
Ferrari vs Glazier in Round 2!

The other thing: poor Stout family. Did NCAA really have to pit Mac vs Luke in Round 2?

Haven’t they wrestled a few times and Kerk has won them all?

I believe they've only met 1 time -- the semifinal of the 2023 NCAAs. Kerk won 4-2. Hendrickson always scares me, with all the pins he gets. Though if you look closer at his record, he doesn't pin a lot of the elite guys. His pin of Cassioppi in the 2023 3rd place match was a rare exception to that pattern.

This could finally be the year we stop hearing about the Iowa streak of wrestlers in the final. Seriously, who cares? Whatever…how long has it been since they won an individual title??

I guess I was thinking of this also. Kerk teched Wyatt.

They've had guys in the final since then, but their last champ was Spencer Lee, in 2021.

Watch Davis beat Byrd in the quarters and then get pinned in the semis 😂
Hopefully Davis is hitting the weights extra hard. Definitely need’s to get Physically stronger and stop getting into bad positions. Think if he’s Stronger he can come out on top of those scrambles….SNV as well….

Davis must have some baby fat on him. He weighed in @ 133 and change for BigTen’s. He often looks smaller and weaker than his competitors. But the kid has talent and time to correct that. Replace the baby fat with muscle.

I actually like the way he matches up with figs. Figs not over powering and just barely beat Davis last year.
