I wanted to highlight guys I believe CAN return and have played some kind of meaningful snaps or are seemingly promising rising freshman or sophomores.
If I’m missing anyone, feel free to add guys.
Offense:
QB - Deuce Adams, Mason Mims or Briggs Cherry, Brady Allen
RB - Isaac Brown, Keyjuan Brown, Duke Watson, Jamarice Wilder, Braxton Jennings, Shaun Boykins, Lekhy Thompkins (Fr)
WR - Treshaun Hurry, Kris Hughes, TJ McWilliams, Payton Cook (Fr)
TE - Nate Kurisky, Jaleel Skinner, Dylan Mesman, Julius Miles (Fr)
OL - Jordan Church, Sam Secrest, Naeer Jackson, Jarvis Strickland (FR)
Defense
LB - TJ Capers, Stanquan Clark, Antonio Watts, Trent Carter,
DB - Tayon Holloway, Corey Gordon, Justin Agu, Rae’mon Mosby, Destin Cheirs, Antonio Harris, Micah Rice, Jaydin Broadnax (FR),
DL - Clev Lubin, AJ Green, Selah Brown, Micah Carter, Eric Hazzard, Jerry Lawson, CJ May, Bailey Abercrombie, Josiah Hope (FR)
Take-aways:
1. I doubt we will retain Tayon Holloway, Clev Lubin, Stanquan Clark, and Antonio Watts. I’m sure one or multiple will try their hand at the nfl. However, all could come back which would be a great core to build around on defense.
2. We could have an extremely good LB corps if you get everyone who can return to return. That has me excited for next year’s team already.
3. We are extremely thin or unproven at the following positions: QB, OL, DT, DB, WR.
What does this lead us to conclude?
1. We will be bringing in another large portal class.
2. The offense is a ball of clay. Brohm can either pay the RBs or let one or multiple RB’s walk and retool the funding to get value at the other positions.
3. If we bring back the defenders that we could, Ron English will have another good group next year that may once again outpace the offense.
4. I think Jaydin Broadnax and Payton Cook are the only true freshman to likely see a lot of PT based on their positions, their ranking, and the relative needs at their positions. Broadnax more likely than Cook because I think we go heavy on the portal at WR.
