Anybody from down in Valley District land shed any light on Waynesboro? They are a complete unknown up here near Winchester. We know Clarke County has a good team that runs a very good single wing and is big upfront on both sides of the line. Any word on how Waynesboro should match up this Friday night?

As far as I know, they have never played, at least in football, unless it was really way back in the day. Clarke's freshmen team does play at Waynesboro on Thursday evening though.
I am not as familiar with this year's group but in recent history they have had some speed, not typically much size, good special teams (punt/kickoff returns), opportunistic defensively, and like to run the triple option but aren't afraid to throw the ball around. That said, Clarke should come away with the victory in this one.
Dad and I were talking about this one. He wanted to know if it was Waynesboro, VA or Waynesboro, PA? He was pretty surprised that the Little Giants were going all the way to Berryville. I reminded him that the last time a team from that area went to Berryville (the Leemen just down the road) they learned what Clarke football was all about!
That said, Waynesboro has been on a pretty good run the last couple of years under Coach McDaniel-my old QB coach from many, many years ago! LOL! I think graduation has hit them hard in the last two years. This year they have beaten Wilson and lost to Draft and Brookville.

When I saw this on Waynesboro's schedule, I too was surprised. Riverheads played a series with Clarke about a dozen years ago, and from RHS it was over 100 miles one way (from Greenville's exit 213 to the Rt. 7 exit-315) not to mention the extra few miles to get to the school. For Waynesboro, it would be within a mile or two of the same distance. That seems like a stretch for a non-district game but I guess sometimes they have to find games where they can find them.
In addition to the Leemen making the trip, as someone mentioned, hasn't Buffalo Gap traveled to Clarke in recent years during playoffs and maybe even Stuarts Draft as well? I can't keep them all straight.

RE Lee did play at Clarke in the playoffs in 2014 and 2015 I believe, and Buffalo Gap last year.
The former Augusta County Superintendent is at Clarke County now. Maybe that is how the two schools have put each other on their schedule.
That type of thing goes on all the time. And it's a good thing. Especially when it comes to arranging scrimmages.
