They've not dropped 3 straight this season & are looking for the sweep. Feels like a really tricky road test where TX (16-9) is due for another W, is solid at home & in need of another resume win. UConn (Dec 29) is the only team that's won in their gym this season.

My keys would be

1) Guards must score in the half-court to set the press. Last time TX had just 8 turnovers. They controlled tempo, junked up the game and let WV beat itself. Guards must show up, esp Jevon/Dax if he plays.
2) Would be surprised if we let Felix kill it yet again. But don't trade guarding him then letting Taylor heat up. He's their catalyst both scoring + assisting.
3) What Huggs always says: We gotta make some shots. Last time against TX we missed a combined 57 FGs + FTs. 57.

X-Factor for me is E.Ahmad giving the front court a needed 3rd scoring option.

what say you ?

I wouldn't be shocked at all, if this game went into O.T,

Score early and often force Texas to play from behind.

With both Ahmad and Adrian playing better I think we have a good chance at a win .... especially if our guards come to play.

OK...................WVU wins if Devin Williams DUNKS the ball instead of trying to shoot the ball thru the hoop or use the glass! Devin is probably shooting about 35% even though a lot of his shots come from within 3 feet of the bucket. Think DUNK first. You can do it. Dadgummit!

don't know about devin's dunks .

but clearly someone finally taught adrian to release layups at the rim. he must have a record for blocked layups because he releases the ball a foot under the rim, in traffic. it's a mental error and it has been the most troubling aspect of his game. much, much better these last 2 games.

Keep our turnovers around 10
Win the battle of the boards
Shoot better from 3 than Texas does
Get 20+ from our bench

and WVU will have a great shot at winning this game. This has pretty much been WVU'S formula for winning all season.

The X factor in this game might be Teyvon Myers. He is probably going to start and if he has a breakout game this could be a fun time.

Agreed some zone looks may be in order especially down the stretch.

Would love to see Teyvon unleash. You get the feeling he could be on the verge. Confidence growing. Feel same way about Esa.

It's kind of like whosever guards play the best wins. Taylor/Felix vs Phillip/Paige. hopefully some pluses from Carter/Myers.

I've been enjoying these keys to the game posts you've been making. Your ISU game plan was remarkably accurate.

Felix is an okay player most nights. Above average I would say. Against us he is their Superman & our kryptonite. Since he was a freshman, Texas is 5-0 with him in the lineup. The 1 win during that span for us was when he was injured & only played 2 minutes. We've got to figure out a way to neutralize him without letting Taylor loose. Taylor was awful in the last game & they still won (only had 4 points & was 0-8 from the field).

Paper.....................DW needs to quit leaning over with the ball. He leans over and then either fouls or gets fouled (depending on ref) as he muscles the ball up. He sometimes forgets where the hoop is. Please tell him to post up without the lean over and then to simply turn and ........DUNK! Now, let's give Adrian credit from improving the three shot. We also need to recognize Paige and his all round great play. To summarize, I still feel that the game is won or lost thru Devin Williams.

Went as feared. They've not lost 3 straight & are all but unbeatable at home.

TX guards outshined ours. Felix went for 11, but Taylor went off for 23. Had that feeling the former would be contained while the latter nails in the big coveted resume win.

Turnovers went from 8 last time to 7. An area we typically thrive in again contained. We failed to defend their 3s nor get to the free throw line enough to overcome it.

No Paige spelled doom early. Impossible to forsee a guy rolling an ankle on a teammate away from the ball. That's 14 plus points missing sitting on the bench.

Phillip & Devin on positives were beastly in the effort. A good sign for more to come.

This stuff happens. Glad to get out of Austin without further future damage. Bounce back & beat OU Saturday! Big picture still in mind...
