We are a couple hitters away from being at their level.

Not trying to be a homer, just pointing out the obvious. A couple of hits in the right places, clean fielding in the right place, and we are up 2-0 in this series. We'll roll them tomorrow.

CEO2044 pointed out the turning point was Pirtle fouling a ball off on a 3-1

count that was in on his hands. Bases loaded on a 3-1 count and 1 out and a ball in on him turned into a swinging K for Pirtle. I also think not bunting CT over with Henderson in the 6th cost us a run, too. We left a lot of guys on base today and really didn't do half-bad getting the leadoff man on. Just needed to get a few more around.

Yeah- Pirtle should have taken that one and gotten the run in. Then you need Wes Rea to get a sac fly- which isn't guaranteed, but you at least cut it to 4-3 with one out and bases loaded.

I like Pirtle a lot, so I'm going to credit him with having the intelligence to make that read. I'm sure he's kicking himself over it, so I'm not going to harp on it, but that was our biggest play to me. Probably would have rattled Beede as well.
