I see one thing, we better spend money and invest it like we’re a so-called football school. Also helps to have a football-focused AD. Take care of the big dog,and everything else is gravy.

Let’s not do this. I want to be a “football school” just because another sport suffers. I want to be one because we’re one helluva football program.
Exactly. Nothing to celebrate about basketball struggling. I'd rather Kentucky be known as being excellent all-around at sports.

College Basketball is dead besides the Tourney.

No one cares anymore until the Tourney tips off!
Football will go that way too if this predictability continues. I do see NIL creating more division between haves and have-nots, and to me it's not interesting knowing there are only about 5 teams with any chance to win a title. Who in the next 5 years other than Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, and maybe a few wildcard teams like Clemson, USC, Michigan have much of a chance to win?

At least in basketball, the postseason is a lot less predictable, and there are probably 20 teams who can take home the title.

Agreed, that is what makes the tourney so great & watchable!

For now, yes. Calipari has angered the main stream in our fan base, and this will not be a simple matter to fix.

Meanwhile, Coach Stoops enjoys broad support in our fan base regardless of what a few slow on the uptake negative nancies want us to believe.

But in the long run, UK can and should be successful at a high level in both major sports. In the SEC, AL is doing it successfully, and AR is giving it a strong try too. (Auburn and TN want to get there, but systemic cheating at those schools puts them in the asterisk category.) OK will soon join the SEC and the Sooners are strong in both major sports. On a national level, UCLA, OR, Miami, FL St, MI, MI St, OH St, and WI make credible efforts to be strong in both major sports. There is no reason why UK can't. I don't want to get into the weeds here over Calipari's drawbacks, since UK basketball is bigger than any single person in the long run.

Cal said " Kentucky is a basketball school". I think that alone caused issues with both fans and the programs. Neither are/were good enough to win games they could.Having a couch bringing division to everyone was a terrible move. Cal has issues.

You named 6 teams! Didn't mention LSU, champs only 3 yrs ago, with titles won by 3 previous head coaches. Oregon, Oklahoma, Florida State also worthy as potential title winners imo.

Hell there could be 200 basketball teams who could be champs. The problem? Me & most all sports fans have no idea who plays for any of them. And don't care to watch any of them in Jan & Feb.

All as a way to procure a facility. It was a dumb thing to say, and the context made it worse.
