was clearly the 3rd best conference? Yet I see...

3rd place Charlotte from the A-10 is a 9 seed
tied for 4th in the A-10 Rhode Island is a 9 seed

Texas A&M- in a 3-way tie for 4th in the Big 12 is 10 seed
Baylor is a 7 seed- yet 7th currently in the Big 12

Cornell is a 9 seed

Ohio State is a 5 seed- and 4th in the Big Ten

and that is just a quick glance...

as to why the first place team in the rough rough SEC West is considered an 11 seed right now?

has the A-10 and SEC tied on berths...with the Big 10 right behind at 6th...at best 4th, possibly 5th, and not far from being 6th

It is no great mystery why MSU is not rated higher. Our RPI is not high enough. If we somehow pull out wins at Vandy and at Florida this week then we will probably jump up to a 7 or 8 seed. Not likely though.
That being said.I think it is safe to say that Cornell would not be a 9 seed if they were in the SEC so I fail to see the significance of that point.

just as close to 3rd as we are to 6th. Even in the down years, the SEC is always one of the top 5 conferences. For 10-15 years up until a couple of years ago, the SEC was always in the top 3.

i'd much rather be 11 than 7, 8, 9 , 10. i just want to stay out of that range.

Many times there is not a huge difference in playing a4-5 seed and playing a 7-8 seed in the first round. There just seems like there is a big gap between thetop 8 or so teams and everyone else right now. If you pull that off in the first round then at least you can avoid the one seeds for a while.
