Ryan, do you feel a bit disingenuous posting “COMMITTED” news in today’s climate? Asking for……all of us.

2 additional thought:
-you should add commitment stars to each guy, up to 5, based on your inside info
-you should post “UNCOMMITTED” videos in the players new uni when they move on
-post our offer and the winning offer ($money)

3 of the rating services list him as a 3 star. why is he listed as a 4 star.
It seems fair to credit a player with his highest ranking, whether or not it is a consensus.

For example, Nick Singleton was rated a 4-star by On3, but a 5-star by the "industry: rankings. Hence, Singleton is labeled a 5-star recruit by most football fans and pundits.

The same is true for acknowledging All American status. A player simply needs to make first team by a single service to earn recognition in the program's All American legacy.

BWI is part of the On3 network, and it's On3 that has him rated as a 4 star. Generally, any commitment written about via someone on the On3 network list either the On3 rating, or the On3 Composite rating.

To me, the most important thing is that the coaching staff evaluated and offered. When the prospect was ready to commit, they accepted.
I imagine that the staff has a "big board" of players they evaluate at each position, just like NFL teams do for the draft. When each one comes off the board because they go elsewhere, it bumps lower players up the board. So, if someone is a take, it isn't because they were the most desirable. They become the most accessible.

How low down the board do they go? At what point does Franklin say, “These guys aren’t good enough for a Penn State uniform. We just won’t field a team this year.”? It’s bound to happen.

I think that’s why some years you get seven wide receivers or 10 defensive backs in the class. Because they really want six offensive lineman, but they lose out on the couple and the kids who are the seventh or eighth ranked offensive lineman aren’t as good to them as the ninth or 10th, DB or the eighth WR.
Some positions you just need to get guys and others like quarterback you need to be much more specific and take their overall ranking out of play, but I think the staff says when they get down with their last couple guys that they’re looking for, even though we already have Seven receivers this eighth receiver is a better player than the next offensive lineman that we might try and get or something to that extent.

Franklin be like, “If we’re going to suck, it’s going to be because of me, not the kids.”

Of course there is a big board. That doesn't mean a player is a take simply because he is #8 and the other 7 have committed elsewhere. I would imagine that the process of evaluation includes a determination that at some point this athlete projects as an integral component of the team.
Fans want the roster to be an all you can eat buffet. We want to retain every single player until they are out of eligibility. We also want every recruit (especially the ones that put stars in our eyes) and let's not forget that we deserve to acquire every big name portal entry.
The reality is scarcity of resources. It seems to me that retaining the current roster was a conscious decision to make a similar run (2024) and hope that there might be another win or two at the end.
A significant sum of $ went to keeping the players we all celebrated when their return was annouced. I'm sorry to say they didn't return for the peachy Paterno at the Creamery. Franklin's policy of not paying a high school recruit more than an established star and the funds already invested made failing to bag 5 stars the opportunity cost.
If pushing all it's chips to the middle should succeed, my assumption is that even more NIL dollars will flow in the future.
PSU is probably one of few remaining programs that still has some semblence of "team." IMO, paying unproven industry rated 5 stars more than your mainstays is not sustainable. To anyone who has ever played or coached, you know the consequences of a divided lockerroom.
