We are going to have a fast football team.

It's obvious that Coach is recruiting fast kids and it seems to be one of his priority's. I was reading that Fred Brown is a consistent 4.4 guy, then we have A.Barnes at sub 4.3 and B. Holloway at sub 4.3. That got me to thinking about guys like Josh Robinson and J. Lewis and some of the guys from last years class, I can't remember their 40 times but remember them being pretty fast. Any idea who the fastest player on the team is now and who will it be if all of these guys make it to campus?

On a side note, how many teams really have 5 or 6 legitimate sub 4.4 guys on their team? I can't believe there are many.

that when Ralph leaves, we will swap from a spread/option team to more passing oriented spread offense (Spurrier's gators). Hence the all the WRs and tweener athlete types like Barnes and Holloway. Now this might be coach speak to get these guys, but he's always said he going to mold the offense around the talent and not the other way around, ala Rich Rod at UM. <div>
</div><div>But you are right, tons of speed. Al Davis would be proud.</div>

I have no doubt that these guys are fast, but the fact that you repeated hearing sub 4.3 is crazy talk. And saying sub 4.3 is one level of crazy, but claiming 4.21 is a whole nother level of crazy.

We've been hearing some awfully low numbers the last couple of years. Means nothing to me until I see our guys doing it on the field.

that we have been hearing are totally accurate, however, they are relative. If you hear someone ran a 4.3, then it is safe to assume they ran at least a 4.4 which is still hauling ***. I will say this though, we are going to be faster than we have ever been as a team. I hate the kid from florida won't get to play against nix's defense. Records might fall in that game. The great thing about the speed that we are signing is that in our system, it is magnified. I can't wait to see it.

Remember that 78 yd screen pass to Mark Ingram last year? He smoked everyone down the field...he ran a 4.62 at the NFL combine.

4.3 does not automatically equal a 4.4. I am willing to bet that we have maybe one guy on our team that runs a sub 4.4 and maybe 5 guys that run in the 4.4's on a laser.

Kailo Moore was considered the fastest sophomore in the nation last year in track. He and Holloway have similar speed, although Moore is much larger.

Moore's laser timed 40 at camp was a 4.36.

Of course if we had a 4.3 guy i'm sure the bears would have a 4.29 guy....and he would be much larger and able to leap endzone to endzone in a single leap.
GTFO.

and they are always going to show up and teach us about whatever the current subject is at the time. And if Moore's family hadn't been on the plantation payroll for several generations, do you think he would commit to them at this time?

I didn't mention 4.21. I have heard two guys have sub 4.3 speed and a few more who clocked 4.4 or less at the combines.
As for Holloway the only for sure speed i've seen on him is 10.56, 100 and 21.28, 200..pretty quick....hope it translates when he's in uniform.

Iif we are talking just 40 times, I think Perkins can accelerate as quick as anyone on either of our current teams.

There is 40 yard dash speed and then there is in game speed. In a game, a guy with a slower 40 can pull away from a guy with a faster 40. Just not any other real standard way to measure speed.

Vick Ballard reported a 4.4 at Perk (MGCCC) and I don't think anyone here is going to sit and tell you he's got that kind of speed. No pads and coaches clocking usually means they always run a 4.4 or better.

Everyone needs to remember that as soon as a kid steps on campus, he's automatically going to lose some speed with Coach Balis having these guys basically replace their speediness with tree-trunk thighs. Look at Perkins for example, I think he reported a 4.3 40 in high school and he got chased down twice in back-to-back games at the end of the season. I'm not saying this is a bad thing at all, because there were a couple examples of our players last year just completely manhandling people with their strength. I think Percy Harvin, Jeff Demps, and obviously Trindon Holliday are all smaller than comparable guys on our roster.

...while OMBD likes to hang out on a high school football field and drool over high school boys. I'm sure his wife is really proud

He is listed as a 4.4 guy who ran a 10.69 100 meters in HS. And he wasn't toting a football. Other teams have fast guys too.
