JSU's coach is quoting the great Sly Croom in articles.

As great as having three outstanding rushers sounds, coach Rick Comegy and offensive coordinator James Woody have both said that the team will pare down to two primary ballcarriers.

"I heard Coach (Sylvester) Croom say that a back has to do three things to take over - No. 1 block, No. 2 have great vision, No. 3 be able to catch the football," Comegy said. "I think the back that gets that position will have those three things.

Anyone that respects anything the walrus has to say regarding coaching football needs their *** whopped.

No. 5 - the ability of said back to be called on for 3 straight runs, no passing and a cloud of (Croom) dust.

No. 6 - the ability of any typical SEC defense from '04-'08 to load up in the box and dare said Offensive Co/Head Coach to just try and run the ball...sadly Head Coach/Offensive Co thought this to be a man challenge and sadly did always run it.

No. 7 - never take the word of somebody who orders the players to wear white helmets and white band shoes as official football uniform attire.

If he does that against the Jackson State defense, how do you think he's going to do against the MSU defense? Boy, Croom sure had an eye for QB talent, didn't he.

At least we now know the confidence other teams had when they knew their defense was going against a Croom quarterback.

after a scrimmage Henig had some bad numbers- something like 8-17 with a pick. And Croom said something like "Henig really got into a rhythm at the end of the scrimmage".

Maybe Rutland got himself into a rhythm at the end of JSU's scrimmage.

Seriously, I don't see how Rutland could possibly start any game for JSU with those numbers. That's the absolute worst stat line I have EVER seen for a scrimmage from a QB. And someone was busting on JSU's defense- remember the QB was also probably off limits for hits. He had no reason to fear a pass rush. What's he going to do against an SEC defense and a pass rush?
