We are simply not a good team - here's why

1) We have exactly ONE guy who can handle the ball against decent defenses and that's Bost. Barry is so-so but after that everyone is really where D1 players should be in high school.

2) We do not BLOCK OUT - most of the offensive rebounds we give up are simply a result of not even trying to get a body on somebody.

3) We have no half court offense - so when we need a basket we have nothing to go

4) We do not play good help side defense other than Jarvis

5) We have no offensive post threat so we can't score on the block. Bost is also the only guy capable of penetrating and creating things on offense.

6) We play witha level of hustle and determination way, way below the Stans teams of several years ago.

7) Our shot selection is very very poor for the most part. Guarantee we take at least 10-15 more low percentage shots that most of our opponents, excluding those you throw up with1 second on the shot clock.

8) Our coach is simply not a very good floor coach. This year he's had only slightly more talent that the rest of the west and his coaching skills are becoming more evident. He gets credit for going to the zone at OM and then tonight has a brain fart and forget it's even an option.

and exactly correct. This sums it up. This team SHOULD be 5-0 right now. We'll get hot from the 3 line in some games and probably win 9-10 SEC games, but that won't make the NCAAT.

Yep, he gave up an offensive rebound on a missed free throw with about 5 min left b/c he jumped into the rebound instead of holding position and it went over his head.

C34 thinks that Kodi is a great player. He's wrong. Ravern is not good. Randy is terrible for 4 years now. Bost is a turnover machine. Phil is a one star player. We've got one player and potentially one been suspended for no real reason. </p>

To be rationale - Ravern would be a solid player in the right system. He can score, but he can't create his own shot off the dribble. To account for his poor defense, when he's in, he has to be a focal point of the offense. That means running him of screens and such.

Barry's problem is that it seems that in the last 4 minutes of most games his turnover % skyrockets. He's a decent player but should really be a 4th option on a good team or the first guard off the bench. For the most part he does everything "ok" but nothing great atlhough he's played pretty good defense this year.

Kodi has proven to be a waste - he really does 2 things bad for every one thing he does good.

I dont' think depth is as much an issue is lack of talent - we clearly don't have as much as we thought we did in the starting unit.

and everyone is right - next year will be worse and it comes at a bad time. We must get most of the 2011 Mississippi players to play at MSU
