Despite all the recent events, our coaching staffisn't giving up. I checked hisofficial visit list and we aren't on it this weekend, which I know doesn't show unofficials...but he will be in a car this weekend heading to Starkville, as of this morning at least.

Do you still try or do you even bother? Put me in the try camp.

Just because you can't handle a recruit looking elsewhere and may end up somewhere besides MSU, doesn't mean you have to act like a damnchild and completely issue worthless statements like "let.it.go."

C'mon, Man...

ETA: It just sounds too incredible to be believed. Anything can happen, we know. But, the odds are very, very long.

Kind of like the boss you never see or hear from until the 2 week notice hits and then he wants to "meet and discuss the situation?"

Color me disinterested.

part of the program and do their part to make it better a better program. If a kid is a serious prima dona I kind of want to hit the ignore button from here on out.

My boss was like "so what could we have done differently to keep you here". I replied "Pay me more".

I'm thinking very similar...

but like others have said, it isn't happening. Whether it be Manning, Brassell, or C.J.. They are headed to om and the sooner we let it go the better.

Listen, do I think he will switch to MSU in the last couple of days...very unlikely. But you and others keep using "we" as in we, the fanbase and our coaches, should let it go.17 that. For MSU to get to the next level, we can't havecoaches back off a commit because they think he will go somewhere else when for the last 6 months, whatever timeline, there whole recruitment has been back and forth, and we should just give up. 17 again. If they all go to OM, it hurts the perception that we are pulling away from UM, but there is an ebb and flow. I don't want MSU coaches to have an attitude of "let it go" and "we don't want him anyway." And they, MSU coaches, aren't which was my original posts sentiment. I guess letting it go for some posters on here relieves the torture of recruiting, which is fine, but don't tell others who still like to hear the rumblings/ rumors of recruiting to shut it down. </p>

until after Feb. 2nd. Look, we can have a very competitive team without the elite players on the field with the coaching we have but to have a championship type team (and that's what Mullen wants) you have to have real difference makers on the field. Look what 2 players, Newton and Fairley, did for Auburn this year. Those 2 guys took them from good to great.

I don't disagree with the "we should never give up" sentiment, but at what point would our coaches energies be betterutilized elsewhere?

Didn't someone post that Yancy reported that some of these guys including CJ and Tobias told MSU not to come to their house for final visits? Seems like I heard that from someone. At any rate, I doubt our coaches are backing down, but I doubt it does any good.

the sooner we, the fans, just accept that they are going to om the better it will be. If not, then you are just holding on to false hope that will lead to you be disappointed come next Wednesday morning. Of course I don't want the coaches to not keep trying, but right now what is there that should give us the fans any hope? It makes no difference at all if we, the fans, let it go and move on, we aren't recruiting them. And if the coaches are able to get one of them then fine we will be pleasantly surprised.

I see your point, but unless you're talking about them banking a few schollies and focus on December JUCOs and/or focus on 2012, there's nothing left for our coaches to do. 2011 is over. It's like flying into somewhere and arriving at 10 p.m. and looking out at the available rental cars. Nothing.

why would you not have a kid come visit. And if you need to, drive 2 hours to madison. You only have to/get to do it once. Its not like we have to/can spend 12 hours a day recruiting the kid.

Maybe making sure the commits we do have are locked down. Possibly flipping a MLBcommitted to another school. Finding a diamond in the rough MLB commit. Reeling in a couple of the big fish still out there waiting for signing day.

even though both he and Dee met with Mullen on Sunday. We offered PJ's buddies wallk on spots. We are looking for a diamond in the rough and bringing one in for a visit.

Flipping an MLB worth having or reeling in big fish still out there is probably a bigger waste of time than recruiting Tobias. But we still have plenty of time to do it. Again, its not like we are spending 12 hours a day recruiting the kid with all 10 coaches.

Not good to great. Just taking out Newton probably moves them to mediocre.

expect them to sign with the Bears next week but I thought this thread was about whether our coaches should give up trying on them. And the answer is of course not.

That some of the folks saying to not offer a visit to CJ are some of the people that blew a gasket when Croom left visits on the table. What the hell does it hurt if there is a shred of doubt in a teenagers mind
