We are getting results commensurate with that salary.

We are the best paying job in college baseball. Results so far?….. Umm, yeah.

Yeah, but we have the least pay-worthy coach in the conference, too. It’s not all on Lebby, because he walked into a disaster.

I can guarantee that if we were the 7-1 we SHOULD be right now, his bank account would be much happier. But, he is on the verge of making massive improvements and still being impossible to retain.

You get what you pay for.

Lebby is getting OJT as a 1st time Power 4 head coach.

It is what it is at this point. Poor ROI. (HC and certain portal acquisitions)

Just wait until baseball. We are tanking and saving up sweet mula to crush the competition in Omaha
Serious question, because I truly do not know. It is my understanding that former baseball players stepped up big time for our baseball program. Can the same be said for all the former football players, some of whom have landed record breaking salaries in their position in the NFL? I hope it is.

stupid take. Decisions like last week to throw the ball in that situation at the end of the game at FL, this week going for it on 4th twice in your own territory while up multiple scores and your defense is playing good, snapping the ball continuously with 20-30 seconds in play clock while up three scores ect. This is not rocket science where talking about. This man is making millions of dollars. Are you telling me that we can’t find a common sense coach with regards to the decisions ect I listed above? Dumbest take and I’ve heard it before.

He’s being paid as much or more than about half the head coaches in NFL and he’s making mistakes of an inexperienced high school coach.

Tell me again we can’t afford someone better. BS
I’m not saying we can’t find someone better. I’m saying we went cheap and are getting cheap results.

Pretty sure the facts back me up on this.

Yeah, I agree. My comment wasn’t really at you - just heard a lot of people say we can’t afford better. There’s no reason for us to continue rolling the dice on first time head coaches. Croom, Mullen, Moorhead, Arnett, and now Lebby. We’re batting .200

Can’t convince me there’s not a better head coach out there who wouldn’t come here for $4-5 million

Time to abolish the football program and concentrate on winning in baseball
Yeah, we should indeed concentrate on baseball and appears that we are. We have a winning tradition there. In football, we don't......however, football pays most of the bills. Baseball would be in major black territory if not for the new stadium payment. In basketball, we are competitive and occasionally have streaks of winning seasons. IMO, we should hire football coaches after thorough a vetting. Get the best one we can for our budget and let him ride for a minimum of 3 years with a no-fire clause. And if he shows ANY improvement in those 3 years, give him 5 immediately. The only time we've gotten big name proven head coaches were Jackie Sherrill and Mike Leach. That's not happening for MSU in this new football era. And then hope we hit a HR on an assistant like Dan Mullin, or like Vandy did with Clark Lea, from time to time. We just are not an SEC football elite. Those original 6 teams were UT, UGA, UF, BAMA, LSU, and AUB. They dived into football head first a long time ago and we did not for a variety of reasons. Now we have added 2 new elites IMO.....UTA and OK. And TAMU is not too far below those. I just hope when the SEC adds another 4 teams to bring us to 20, that we add teams that we can be relatively competitive with......like VaTech, NCSTATE, GATech, OKST, etc.

Cohen alienated the football players, Selmon has re-engaged them for sure, so some relationships are being mended. He also hated the thought of NIL, so we are just now getting somewhat competitive with NIL.
