We can thank Dee all we want but...

there were others who played major roles in this win. I do believe Dee is our leader and will continue to play better as the season goes forward. However, RS played 28 minutes. Some were good minutes, some were not. He did, however, play some good D and stayed out of foul trouble in the process. That is progress and if it continues it will help our team go a long way. What can we say about Moultrie? Wow. R Hood did not have a good offensive game but did some other good things. I wonder about his endurance because some of his patented short jumpers today look like a case of tired legs. Let's hope he bounces back. Jalen needs to just shoot the basketball and relax. He is a pure shooter. Deville continues to learn. B Bryant is brave, almost too brave, with the basketball. Today his "bravery" helped win the game. It would be good to see Wendell give us more quality minutes. In past years we have hurt TSUN with a zone defense; let's hope they don't pull the same thing on us this year! We did not look very good vs Bama's zone despite Dees threes. Frankly, I thought they should have stayed in the zone more. We will be challenged in Oxford.

I just hope his attitude is way better than Gary's. They both are incredibly talented and explosive. They both can create when nothing is there. I think Gary was a better shooter, but his attitude was ultimately his undoing.<div>
</div><div>Deville is trying too hard. I can't knock his effort at all, because he is incredibly explosive and has shown he can carry this team if he needs to. He is too out of control at times, though. he got trapped in the paint on the baseline today trying too hard to drive into the paint against two bigs. He does the same thing in transition trying to take the ball coast to coast against 3 defenders. Once he learns (if he is willing to learn) situational awareness along with his own abilities (what he can and can't do), he has the potential to be incredible. I think it's a little easier from a coaching perspective to slow someone down than try to speed them up. His worst trait is that he has a very hard time creating shots off the dribble. With all that said, he has tons of potential and I hope the coaching staff focuses a lot of effort in developing him because he can be a special player.</div>

he has to slow down when he doesn't have the numbers. He can challenge some of the other team's guards but has to forget going into the lane vs the "bigs". He can also concentrate on using his quickness defensively to get steals and disrupt the other team's offense.

I think Deville will be just fine, and turn out to be one of the best guards ever at State...

if we turn into a massive up-tempo style Deville will be a beast. Problem is Stansbury isn't going to run the type of offense that Deville needs to shine and Deville isn't (and shouldn't be asked to) able to slow his game down for everyone else. I don't think MSU is the right fit for him. Why would we ask him to stop the one thing that gives him the potential to be his best? That's like asking the 95mph fastball pitcher to only throw off speed pitches. Deville needs to run. He is super 17ing fast. Maybe Stansbury will committ to the high tempo game but I just don't see it happening.

His shot off the dribble is very weak, but if he can develop that area of his game and gain some control, he has the mindset and the control of the offense to be, although very different from Dee's style, very good in his own right. He has a lot of raw ability and emotional drive, now he has to control that and learn his limits of what he can and can't do. He can be very special.

especially Hood. Another thing on Hood, up until the game yesterday and maybe the TN game, there were many times he let his man get by him going one direction (can't think of how else to describe it, I think it was going to the left). Anyway, he seems to have done something with his footwork to get better at that. I can't tell exactly what it is, but as has been said about him before, he is a quick learner.

People bitched for years because our players were too lean, but they were able to play fantastic man to man defense because they were lean and could play LOTS of minutes at a fast pace. We don't run an uptempo offense because that's just not the way Stans' chooses to do it. We definitely could run a fast paced offense, but for some reason he chooses not to.
