They've gone to Self in these situations before though. It's inexplicable, but it's not new.
Lemonis probably felt it was too early to go to Liebelt, Gordon or White especially given we were already behind in the game.
White is obviously a better reliever, but is a 1-inning flame-thrower, not long relief. And Self's overall numbers are impacted greatly by a really dreadful performance vs LSU where his game ERA was 81.00. 3 of his last 4 appearances and his last 2 had been quite good. No runs scored on 2 hits over 3.2 innings.There is no too early in a game like this. It's simply a horrible coaching decision. Self has a .333 batting average against, versus White's .174 average against. White is head and shoulders more effective than Self in every statistic.
We were down 2-0, we should have been throwing our best at them to keep it right where it was. This feels like a no-tomorrow/must win type of game.
