Highest ever finish was 44th. This was our second best overall athletic season in history.
This statement alone exemplifies why I don’t pay one iota of attention to the Director’s Cup.This was our second best overall athletic season in history.

It can’t compete with my Commissioner’s Cup. (The secretary answers to the director who answers to the commissioner)I am going to make my own cup and call it the Secretary’s Cup. Stay tuned.
“Secret Assistant to the Regional Manager Cup.”I am going to make my own cup and call it the Secretary’s Cup. Stay tuned.
No. That's why it was surprising.View attachment 827315
does it feel like we’re having a good year?

Can anyone who regularly poo poo's these things explain their thinking? My perspective. It is a ranking that has common criteria for every single university. That criterion has some positive connotation to sports program's relevance/success/whatever. MSU is Top 50. That is positive. The “Women’s Soccer has equal weight to Football” Cup.
The “Let’s Pretend Stanford is Still Relevent in Anything” Cup.
I mean Alabama is barely in the Top 25….with a Final Four men’s basketball team, a Top 12 football team, a baseball team that just barely missed hosting, and a Top 16 seed softball team. Just an utterly pointless ranking.
If we’re in the top 50 this year, then obviously this ranking weighs the sports that don’t really matter far to heavily. Football, Men’s Basketball. A chasm that makes the Grand Canyon look like a pot hole. Then every other sport. Can anyone who regularly poo poo's these things explain their thinking? My perspective. Nobody is fluffing up MSU to make it look better. We just happen to be Top 50 in this ranking, when compared to other universities who were put up against the same measures.
Even if it is not the most prestigious competition in the free world, being on the top of something positive is...positive...unless you are on SPS...
I somewhat get it. Football and baseball have been um… less than ideal. Also, maybe people think like I do about the woman breaking the butt Hulu hoop Guinness world record my wife subjected me to on AGT last night…If we’re in the top 50 this year, then obviously this ranking weighs the sports that don’t really matter far to heavily. I thought it was a pointless ranking when MSU was ranked terribly, as well. Any metric that weighs the olympic sports equally to the revenue sports just isn’t worth the time for MSU fans to invest in. That’s a ranking that’s heavily skewed towards wealthy private schools, who can afford to fund a bunch of money losing endeavors that exist only to prop up status of certain athletes. MSU is going to be behind the 8-ball from the very beginning, due to the fact that they only field the bare minimum number of sports required to sustain D1 status. We get zero points for gymnastics, lacrosse, swimming/diving, etc.Can anyone who regularly poo poo's these things explain their thinking? My perspective.
