He is completely dedicated to seeing our program win a championship. I loved seeing the fire in his eyes post game last night. He spoke matter of factly about why we lost. Despite what some reported he didn't just blame our defensive staff. He blamed himself, too. He is a great student of the game and will learn from his mistakes. And he will challenge his staff when necessary. He has made great strides. If you don't believe it just listen and watch for the giddiness coming from tsun. They might just drop LSU as their biggest rival. Ha.

If you think going on tirades in public about your coaching staff after you just got your a$$ beat by your rival is good for the program, then I have a bridge to sell you in Itta Bena. Look in the mirror Dan.

He called out the offensive coaches (himself) as well as the defense. The quote in the clarion ledger conveniently left that part of the quote out.

You do realize he

blamed himself as well, pops? Try not to be such a sheep, and learn to form your own opinion.

I think it's great to hear a coach speak the truth and get off script.

People complain about too much coachspeak, then complain when a coach speaks his mind.

Can't have it both ways. I'll take what we've got, a no BS guy
who isn't afraid to call out his staff. Spurrier does it as well. Our DC gets a $50,000 check every 30 days to prevent things like Saturday from happening. As long as ***'s not calling out players Im good with it.

How much are you asking?

The most fired up I saw him all year was during that penalty at the Vandy game. If he had half that fire when we made boneheaded defensive plays last Saturday we would have won.

So that's all fine and good but my only issue is we looked just like we did in 2012 when we went up to Oxford. That being like we weren't nearly as hungry to win the game as the Bears. So apparently we learned nothing from 2012 so I assume nothing will be learned from this loss in 2014. And for the record I think it was a mistake for him to cut the team loose on Thanksgiving. We needed to keep our focus and apparently did not do so.

Egg Bowl 2014 was different than 2012 because both teams were good.

TSUN had 4 weeks to prepare for State: Blue Hoes, BYE, UPigg. This was their Super Bowl and it showed. They took a loss to win it.

Been wondering... Were the Rebs cut loose on Thanksgiving Day?

My last comments on Saturday's debacle...

Despite all of the negativity surrounding what happened, Mullen is a good coach and we've had an outstanding season. I can also respect the fact that he placed blame on himself and his coaches rather than throwing players under the bus. With that said...

1) Our offensive gameplan sucked from the get go, and we never had a prayer to win that game with those play calls. This was made worse by the Rebs' constant use of misdirection and generally clever schemes that allowed their playmakers to get the ball in open space. Meanwhile, we just kept running Dak and JRob into that wall up front.
2) Our tackling and overall defensive effort was piss poor and unacceptable. Jaylen Walton, who had a hair over 400 yard ON THE SEASON ran for 148 against our vaunted run defense. Pathetic
3) Our defensive schemes, while solid for 90% of the snaps, gave up more big plays in one day than a team should be giving up in half a season.
4) Our DLine did an awful job of pressuring Bo, and I'm not sure that he was even forced to scramble(much less sacked) on more than a couple occasions all game
5) While I can forgive most of the above points for one half of football, we made very few adjustments at halftime in spite of getting dominated in every facet of the game and that, once again, is unacceptable

Folks, we had an inexcusably poor plan of attack, we did not execute the plan that we did have in any way, shape, or form, and we were woefully uninspired to win what was most likely the most important game in our program's history. I like Dan and all, but I'm glad to hear him say that he's going to be thinking about this one for the next 365 days because his coaching staff did not do what they were paid to do last weekend. It was quite possibly the worst coaching job I've seen since Mullen took over, and there should be no "well, he'll learn from this" in year 6. He's had 5 years to get his feet wet and if there was ever a single time to pull out all the stops, Saturday was it. We didn't even try, though. We thought that we could just roll out there with a vanilla playbook and win as if we were playing Miss Valley.

It's unacceptable, and all I'll say is that Dan and company better make sure that it never happens again

Well we had 2 weeks to prepare because certainly Vandy didn't take much effort and it really didn't seem to help. Will be more difficult again next year when Arkansas gets thrown back in between Bama and OM again.
