This is a position that we are likely to not be in for a very long time, if ever again. We absolutely shat the bed. The worst part is that this team was capable of going 12-0, but we just screwed it up big-time. Next year could be good, but things change every year, and not just talent-wise. The schedule is different, team chemistry is different. Simply put, it is very unlikely that we'll be in a position to go to the playoffs next year. We aren't Bama. We aren't LSU or Auburn either. Might we get to that level at some point? Sure, but it will take time. Teams fall (Michigan, Nebraska, Miami) and teams rise (Baylor, Oregon). I'll cheer the hell out of this team next year and every year. Worst part is we're also going to have to go 364 days with those turds in Oxford possessing our trophy.

It's great to think that we should somehow be proud of this team, and in the future we will probably all talk about how good this team was. But that's for the future and we're living for today, today.

Let's be pissed tonight. But remember that we'll always be Bulldogs. Don't stop believing.

17 this. We blew it. It was our best chance ever. Sherrill's teams thrived in the big games. We wilt. We have ZERO swagger or juice or whatever you want to call it.

Mullen blew it big time. That's the hardest part. Mullen got dominated by Freeze all day. But great season and Hail State. Kick *** in the bowl

Exactly.. It's not just a loss to your rival. Its a loss that knocks you out of national champion contention. That is not likely to happen for a long time ... If ever. Those who do not understand that simply haven't been a state fan long enough. The stars have to align just right for a year like this. Yes, I am still proud of this team but to ignore the previous mentioned facts are just ignorant.

I'm trying to ignore your trolling but that is just ridiculous. Jackie had some nice teams in the late 90s but they **** the bed on a regular basis, particularly that 2000 team.

They did?

Like the bowl game after the 91 season? Or the 92 season? Or the 97 Upig game and OM game? Or the SECCG in 98? Or the Bama game in 99? Or several games in 2000. Give me a break

You are right about not having this opportunity come around very often. This position won't come around for at least another 4 years when State rebuilds the roster and Bama, LSU, TAMU, etc have to reload.

Dan talks about playing for championships and they don't show up for these elimination games. Disheartening.
