We have got to challenge the NCAA on Sidney's 9 game suspension.

Can anyone not see this coming from a mile away? We will start off next year about 5-4 with some bad losses then get Sidney and start winning games only to be left out of the NCAAs because we had the early bad losses.
Is there any recourse at all to challenge the NCAA on this?

I thought the universityhad already decided to appeal the 9 game suspension.

I beleive that was stated the day the suspension was released.

I agree, we need to do everything we can to get that number down. We can't be dicking around early in the season without any big time scheduling upgrades. No losses to Riders next year. It's not an option.

That being said, we'll probably get another game or two added on after the appeals committee finds that the original decision wasn't tough enough.

Knowing he won't have Sidney for the first nine next year means we will have the cupcakiest of all schedules next year. Is that Hawaii thing in the first nine or not?

you can bet we'll have Centenary, Alcorn State, Jacksonville State, MRA, Coffeeville, and Sylva Bay Academy scheduled in those first 9 to get through his suspension

Do you

A) Want the best shot at making the NCAAT next year, or

B) Just want to win the West

****** schedules = West Division Title as your ceiling accomplishment.

Unless, you are pretty confident we are going to dominate in SEC play. I don't think it's wise to assume that.

We need to play a tough OOC schedule with or without Sidney. The committee will take into account that we were without Sidney. Why did we get leftout this year weak OOC opponents and weak SOS.

They will also come out and say that he can't play during the appeal process.

it has been discussed ad nauseum, just don't see what is wrong with putting the harder teams after the first 9 games. We might not be able to help it though with the tournament and what not.

Still blows my damn mind that Illinois nearly got a bid with an RPI around 70. So they had a few good wins to go with all their losses. Since when does RPI not count much? We would get screwed with an RPI like that.

That is a good question. If there has ever been a suspension longer than one season I can't find it.

In fact, I think the suspension ranks in the top 5 longest in basketball history (nba and college). From my five minutes of research, only Ron Artest, Latrell Sprewell, and Gilbert Arenas have him beat.

I question how much consideration they really even got. They had a few impressive wins (Clemson, Vandy, Mich State, Wisconsin), but some cupcakes too. They were 10-8 in the Big 11, with six of those wins coming against Iowa, Indiana and Penn STate. They closed the season losing 5 of 6. There was no reason for them to even be discussed, and then Mike Kelley, the Big 11 homer on ESPNU via Wisconsin, picked them to win the NIT.
