We have to upgrade our schedule..no matter what.

We need to play great teams, win lose or draw. It will bring more fans to the hump and more recruits, better RPI.

I have faith that Byrne will fix this.</p>

I'd love to see us try to schedule some relatively close teams that are usually good like Memphis and Georgia Tech. Texas A&M would be a good OOC game, too.

You keep the players from bolting, and you might have a good start to the season instead of trying to gel in the middle of the SEC tourney

all the teams we scheduled like washington state, texas tech, cincinnati all were flops and then there were otehr teams that were not nearly as bad last year as they turned out this year. Stansbury tried this year but he definitely could do a better job next season. We might be one of the big name teams to look forward to next season if we keep the team glued together.

That will never happen as long as Calipari is there. It's part of the reason we temporarily dropped their sorry football program from our schedule, as a matter of fact. He does not consider State, Arkansas or Ole Miss to be "national" games.

I know, but it would still be a good yearly game since we have a lot of alumni in that area and they are only 3 hours away.

I think Stansbury generally does a pretty good job of scheduling to fit our team. By that I mean, when we have a young team like this year, we generally have a easier schedule, and when we have a veteran squad like in '04 I think it was, we generally play a harder schedule. Next years schedule is probably pretty set by now, but I expect our schedule to get harder over the next couple years since we have such a young group. As solid snave said though, the defections need to stop. If we stop losing players, a lot of other small problems will take care of themselves and we'll see more runs of 5 straight NCAA appearances like we had a few years ago. Also, I think with consecutive appearances, the chances for going deeper increases (getting over, or to, that 2nd weekend hump), but like I said, it all goes back to the defections.

Makes way too much sense.

Cal thinks his program is above playing regional rivals. I guess he's afraid that if the **** ever goes bad there, they'll have to depend on the SEC schools to fill the arena, much like the football program only fills the stadium when the SEC comes to town. Memphis fans are pretty fickle. They are packing the place now, but if they ever start losing, you'll be able to fire a missle through FedExForum without hitting anyone.

Even with the crappy SOS, we were only a couple of wins from the tournament with a freshman/sophomore-laden team. I think it's more important to TCB on an easy to moderate schedule than to beef up the schedule with less-winnable games.

Any other year, the SEC conference schedule makes up for any weak OOC schedule, this year was just a fluke. SEC gets back to normal and we won't have to worry about RPI and SOS.
