It isn't the end of the world, but I don't know why people are surprised. Cohen hasn't done much since he has been here. We can't blame much one injuries, we will end the sec 10-20 to 12-18 and be on the cusp of a regional. Coach and others will point to last years fluke Super Regional. I just want to point out that it is just a SUPER REGIONAL and not a world series. Everyone forgets that POLK took us to a world series in his second to last year. <div id="myEventWatcherDiv" style="display:none;"></div>

mainly because you'll miss the conference tournament with that record. If we miss the conference tourney, out OOC schedule is too weak to get in.

We are missing2 guys that were batting over .300, including Norris who was hitting .375 and had 12 RBIs which led the team when he went out. But you are telling me we can't blame injuries. I'm ashamed to be associated in the same fan base as some of you.

Some people on here think we should be winning because of our tradition. Noneof these kids were born the last time we won the SEC.Those playing the tradition card need to get off their high horses and come back to reality. It just doesn't matter because of how far removed we are from the last time we had consistent success.

We were bad when Cohen got here. This willtake time to rebuild, and it's going to be tough to gaugehow good wereally arewith CT, Norris,Stark, Brownlee, and Bracewell missing. Some of you have unrealistic expectations for us, and you need to let Cohen work. We've lost two 1 run games to a Top 15 program on the road with a lineup that has 1 guy in it that had ever started an SEC game before yesterday. It happens people. Get off the ledge and let's see if we can pull one out on Sunday.

I understood the complaining and overall feelings towards the basketball program that the average people on this board had, but this baseball stuff is insane. These guys are scrapping even though we're down several good players. Cohen wanted to focus on getting us some arms in here, and he's made good on that promise. As for the bats, they're struggling, no doubt, but there is a very Likely chance that we are up 2-0 on LSU in this series if Norris and Bradford are in the lineup. Not only are they two of our best hitters, they are also two of our timely hitters so far, so it's Huge not having them.

I'm all for calling a spade a spade, and right now we have a struggling offense. But this doom and gloom, "Cohen can't get it done" ******** is ridiculous. Cohen will be fine, and our baseball program will start winning on a consistant basis soon. It's almost like the board got a rush from feeling like they helped make the Stansbury decision (which I agreed with and pushed for too), so now it's on to the next coach. Let's everybody calm the 17 down and see what happens as we get some key cogs back in the lineup and hopefully improve the hitting throughout conference play. We are FAR from being able to determine Cohen's career achievements at State.

you can call it a fluke or whatever- but we went to a Super regional and went toe to toe with the nation's runner-up

We lost most of our position players- most people knew this was a rebuilding year. Then add injuries to a rebuilding year, and this is what you have- a team that's 14-8

We'll get experience this year and see what happens

If we miss the NCAA's this year, then he better make it next year or we can fire his ***. But the 80's and 90's are over- and we arent just going to suddenly jump into the top half of the best conference in the nation like 2003-2010 didnt happen

Coach, I though we need to let this year play out before we move on to next year? I agreed to that, remember? Also, South Carolina lost 5 starting position players, 2 weekend starters and a closer after the 2010 season and what did they do the next? REPEAT AS NATIONAL CHAMPS! I know we're a long way from that but we can't put all blame on new guys. Injuries maybe, but not that they're all new guys.

We aren't coming off of the success that South Carolina has had lately, therefore it's easier for them to reload. Man some of you people are either idiots, or don't take the time to think about things before you post

so should we not be competitive this year and at least make a regional? When I said a long way, I mean that losing a super regional is a long way from winning omaha, but should we not also be able to build something off of that?<div>
</div><div>And apparently we have a lot of horse shoes and hand grenades players because we love to talk about how close we were. Last time I check, we didn't do anything last year deserving of a ring, banner, or trophy.</div>

I'm fairly certain it's the former rather than the latter. I swear, some of our fans rival Bama football in their stupidity.

Stop overreacting to a couple of road games against a top 10 team that we were still competitive in despite major injuries.

and we have I believe five one run losses out of seven- the majority of those losses occuring after a few of our best players went down.

We should get all of those players back before the end of the year- so I do feel like we have a good chance to make a run late in the year. I think even getting CT back will help us immensely. It also hurts that Nick Flair is injured and can't fill in for Daryl Norris.

I'm encouraged by the fact that we are hitting- but obviously the issue is scoring runs. That screams lack of power- we have to start being more aggressive on the bases even when we are behind because it's hard for any team to string three-four hits to score a run.

The power will improve as these players gain more expereince. As it is, we have to keep our head up and keep playing hard.

I hope you're right...if we make a regional, it will be really impressive with the guys he has available right now and I will gladly retract my Cohen dissing on here. However, we're starting to sound a lot like Ron Polk by blaming it on injuries. He may have been on to something.

I guess I need to explain myself better for why I feel this way. I'm not necessarily basing it on this weekend. LSU is a great opponent and Alex Box is a tough place to play. I'm going on we've lost 5 out of 6 (albeit with injured players) and another really tough opponent next weekend. Even if we get injured players back, we have the potential to be in such a hole that it won't matter. That's why it's critical they win now to give those guys a chance for when they do come back.<div>
</div><div>If you're looking for Cohen hitters to have power you're looking for the wrong guy. He's a small ball coach and if you don't like sac bunts, hbp's, walks you can't like his style. And as for running bases, did we not get thrown out three times last night?</div><div>
</div><div>I'll never forget asking Mingione how he felt about the team's lack of run scoring in 2010 about midway through conference play and he said it's really hard to be fired up as a team when you can't score.</div>

Secondly, using injuries is a validexcuse if you have 5 starters missing. Now if CT was the only one injured I would be ok with our situation. But missing a starting pitcher, our starting CF, one of our starting LFs, our starting 3B, and a utility guy like Stark that can play OF, IF, and pitch is not blaming, it's just stating a fact. You really don't think missing those 5, especially missing 4 starters in the field, is something that is crippling our team? If you don't there is no hope for you. </p>

Dawg61 needs to explain to you that you don't have the necessary number of posts to do that yet. *** (shout out to 61)

And then someone else needs to give you the REPLY tutorial.

I haven't liked Cohen from the beginning and when I say beginning I don't before he was hired. I meansince he was hired and not before. I don't think that we haveimproved enough since Cohen came to town. We are always young and always have injuries. I don't like the way he treats his players and I especially don't like the way he handles his pitchers. I will never forget in either year one or year two, he pitched Tyler Whitney over 140 pitches and when he pulled him he chewed him out in the dugout. My son pitches some and if he improved enough to pitch at that level I doubt I would let him play for Cohen.

that don't like Cohen than there ever were that didn't like Stansbury. They just aren't egotistical jackasses trying to be the coolest person on a message board.

I think they we`re named "sheep" sometime ago. Hell Sylvester Crxxm still had a following amongst some of you til his team finally did us all a favor and laid down against Ole Miss.

But where does this idea that you can't be competitive year-in and year-out come from? Bianco had a pretty long run at UM of being a very competitive team every year. Pat McMahon did it here, after Polk had already brought MSU down to the rest of the pack, and behind a lot of them, in the 90s.

think the answer to your question is pretty obvious...
agree that John is doing the best he can do with the hand dealt him....we are basically a high school plus team right now because of injuries, and still playing LSU to one run games..pretty amazing, if you want to know the truth..I, too hope we can eak out one this afternoon..should have plenty of arms to use if we can just get some timely hits...

about his postseason record. I still hope he can become the coach a lot of us thought he would be. But I just don't see the improvement on the field and in the results. I know we went to a super regional last year, but it felt just like the Liberty Bowl and the 2007 CWS appearances felt. They all 2 were great and exciting, but I never got the impression from any of them that we had turned the corner and were becoming a good program. I was right about the first 2.I'm hoping I'll be proved wrong about the 3rd.

and I agree with you that it felt similar to a football version of the Liberty Bowl. If you make enough post season appearances (which MSU baseball should), you'll run into a hot streak and make it all the way. However, that team had some talent on it (Rea, Moreland, Powers, Sneed, Easley, etc..)
