Justin Cox is at Safety.
Gabe Myles at WR.
Dee Arrington at LB.

I like Arrington at LB if he can handle it. Could pick up for Wells after he leaves. The Spread puts so much pressure on defenses to cover/tackle guys in space. I like having Arrington's speed down there. On the flip side he looked pretty damn good at S when he was on the field this year.

Is Arrington expected to play in the LB? I assumed he was trying to get a medical RS.

I also thought he's been gone since the auburn game and he was trying for a medical redshirt. You'd think if he is practicing then he wouldn't be eligible for the redshirt. It sucks because I think he was finally starting to come around and we just so happen to be log jammed at safety and lb. Him getting a redshirt would allow him to have two years left and possibly earn spot his redshirt senior year.

Yeah I just realized Arrington is a Jr this year. Damn. He's basically spent his first two years on special teams. I'll be surprised if he plays in the bowl game, but who knows.

You can practice all you want and still get a redshirt. Even a medical one. Just don't play in more than 25% of the games and none in the 2nd half of the season.

I thought a medical redshirt required you to be incapable of playing/practicing.

The last game Arrington played in was LSU which was in the first half of the season. I remember him forcing a fumble on the goal line. I really hope they are using a medical redshirt on him.

It depends. If you are asking for a medical redshirt to get a 5th year, you can be a little phony-baloney about it. If you're asking for a 6th year, it has to be 100% legit.

Did Arrington already use his regular redshirt? If so, it may be hard to get him a 6th year, although being able to practice a little is not the same as being able to play in a game, so practicing this week doesn't necessarily preclude it.

No, he was a 3rd year junior this year. Mullen decided to not redshirt him just for special teams his first two years

Arrington is absolutely eligible and expected to get a medical redshirt. This is similar to how we played Jiles in the first couple of games last year before getting him a medical redshirt with what I believe was a broken arm. Pretty sure he participated in practices throughout last year -- and certainly in bowl practices...
