He is very good and has a great arm. His field awareness is impressive. He has a great chance to start for us next year. We need a coach with a spread offense.

If you have to start Russell next year, your offense will suck. True freshmen in the SEC and in college football period typically don't do **** at QB.

Also, I'm going to go ahead and tell you you're a big dumbass if you think your coaching hire should have anything to do with Tyler Russell. No recruit is worth making a coaching decision over.

First of all, you're wrong because there have been numerous freshmen QBs make plenty of an impact

Secondly, Have you seen our QBs lately?!

Yea, I've seen your QBs, and I could see you having to start a true frosh, but it would likely mean your offense will struggle next year. Just curious, but what true freshmen QBs have you seen that were successful as full time starters?

Colt McCoy and Riley Skinner are two that come to mind, but that's just off the top of my head...

I'm sure there are more, but I'm not going to look it up...

I'll admit that Freshmen QBs are not the best option, but sometimse they are the only option

Both McCoy and Skinner were redshirt freshmen, which is a big difference. I was talking about true freshmen transitioning straight from high school to college ball in one off-season.

Also, I'm not sure about Madkin. Did he redshirt, and what were his stats? I couldn't find his stats for 98, though I'm pretty sure you won with defense in 1998, sort of like a better version of your 2007 team.

Edited to add: Matt Stafford struggled as a true frosh. Peyton Manning did alright, but he didn't light it up. Tim Tebow was used as a running QB. Ryan Mallette sucked at Michigan. Jimmy Clausen sucked at Notre Dame. There are a lot of very good QBs who struggled to get their offense going as true frosh. It's rare, if ever, that a true freshman comes right out of high school and leads a successful offense as a true freshman.

the SEC. Tyson Lee is good enough to win some games. For the most part he played ok. Our Oline is going to make anybody look like ****. I would rather give our new coach a year to get the oline better than just put Tyler in and get him beat the hell up.

He didnt look anybody off. However, he could make that long out throw and not have it picked off. I saw one throw last night, anybody with less of an arm would've been a pick-6 the other way. Turned out to be a completion.

First year SEC QB's normally get their butts handed to them. That's about 95% of the time. I don't expect Russell to do much if anything until the final few games of his 2nd year, if then. I really don't expect alot from him until the 3rd game of his 3rd year. Some of you folks just don't realize how tough the SEC is especially when you don't have a decent o-line. You better wake up and realize this is a long term process and will take time. We suck on all levels at this point and it will take 2 to 3 years to turn this engine around. We will win some game we shouldn't but we will also lose some games we should win due to what we have to overcome. We don't need to get down but this will take time especially if we hire someone that wants to run a wide open offense. He will have to recruit to his needs.
