Me & my buddies in college routinely played pickup games of tackle football (without pads) while we were in college. A few of the guys were former HS football players, but most of us were just average guys. The worst (and really only) major injury we ever had was a guy got his foot broken in a couple of places. The injury only happened because he was an idiot though, fighting to stay up when 3 guys had him wrapped up.

Even after school when I moved to Texas, I kept playing pick up games of tackle with no pads with friends out here until I was about 27. We were all about the same age and began to notice around this time how much more our bodies ached the next day and that it was taking longer & longer to get over the aches & soreness, so we kind of mutually agreed to hang it up.

If you are young & in pretty good shape, odds are you will be fine as long as you don't act like an idiot. To me, it was always a lot of fun playing without pads.

Tackle football without pads ....<div>
</div><div>Not since junior high, but I remember it being so much fun.</div><div>
</div><div>I wish professional football was without pads. It would probably be more interesting to watch.</div>

lessconcussionsfor sure. No more leading with your head and using your helmet as a weapon. You would have to traditionally tackle more.

Read about it here

Also, I will admit, I'm not man enough to play with those guys. Although I do remember playing something similar in junior high called pitch up and smear. Anyone remember playing that? Wad up a piece of paper and run around until you get tackled...
