And go ahead and claim the 1980 SEC championship, I mean didn't Florida offer to forfeit to us for spying on our practices which would have give us a co-championship with Georgia?

1941 is an Internet joke. 1940 is the year we actually could and should claim.

1941 isn't a joke. There is sound reasoning bc Alabama claims that year who we best and had a better record.

Granted, Alabama's claim in 1941 (when they actually finished #20 in the AP Poll) is a farce, but we weren't much better at #16 and a 7-1-1 record, with 4 undefeated teams ahead of us, including Duquesne who was our loss. If we seriously claimed 1941 as a national title, it would be the second most embarrassing claim in the SEC after Bama's '41. We could never actually do it.

On the other hand, in 1940 we were undefeated (although we had a tie), so there's at least potential there. We were #9 in the final AP Poll, but being undefeated, we could plausibly trump up some ranking that would call us #1. We absolutely could not in 1941.
