UF is basically .500 in the SEC the last 7 series, including series losses to very average, and sometimes bad, Arkansas and OM teams.

Any weekend that mingione doesn't do something bush league and force msu to lose any more respect is a victory in my books.

taking a first strike, fouling off strike two and either taking a third strike or swinging at a pitch in out of the strike zone for the strike out. Repeated far too often.

Exactly what is the hitting philosophy.... Change it.

to anyone other than the pitcher or push a bunt past the pitcher's mound. Geez, my son's 11 year old baseball team understands situational hitting. It's a shame we don't.

Runs are what is important on a per game basis. Florida outscored us in 2 of those games.

We could bat .600 as a team and if we don't score runs it doesn't matter. Plus florida gave us a lot
of free bases in walks and errors.

Whomever is in charge of hitting is god-awful.

Cohen bashers have now switched (for this week) to "we don't have power/score enough." Next week, if we score more runs, it will revert to "our batting average is too low!!1."

our team just needs to learn how to concentrate on putting a ball in play when we have a man at 3rd with less than 2 outs. We've discussed at length questioning why no squeeze bunts which probably would have been a good tactic but SO many times this weekend we had a guy sitting at 3rd that could have been scored with just a weakly hit ground ball or a sac fly but we couldn't get it. Essentially, most anything that would have put a ball into play would have plated a run but instead we either strike out looking or swinging which did nothing but waste the opportunity. Its one thing to leave guys on base because you can't get a 2 out hit but it is REALLY bad to leave guys on because with less than 2 outs you can't make contact with the baseball.

Just because they have a high RPI and a high ranking doesn't mean they're not overrated. When you're ranked #5 in the country, but are only 4th in your own conference standings, that's a hint that you might be overrated. I'm not saying they areoverrated because I think their conference record isn't really indicative of how good they are, just that they could very well be overrated.

His arguing position on here is that he is the Official Baseball Historian and if you dont agree with him that well you just dont understand the history of baseball

Einstein, for about the 100th time (I know the English language can be difficult), can you please link the post where I said our offense is awesome? Thanks, in advance.

Please link to where I quoted you saying our offense is awesome. You have literally made no points today

You said

"Cohen bashers have now switched (for this week) to "we don't have power/score enough." Next week, if we score more runs, it will revert to "our batting average is too low!!1."

As if both aren't problematic... So I asked what about our offense you dont find objection to, because obviously you have a problem with people on here criticizing our offense. If you get upset with criticism of the offense, then you obviously dont agree with the criticism...

To which I asked what you are defending about our offense, which is not saying that you think it is awesome.

As Jack said, they've lost series to a couple of pretty mediocre teams and they're sitting at 4th in the league. Hard to be top 5 in the country if you're only #4 in your own league. Also, they can't hit for ****. That's not just because we shut them down, they're only batting .250 in league games (3rd worst in the league). Now they may put it together and make a CWS run, but not the way they've been playing the last couple of months.

Yes, I'll acknowledge some of Florida's mediocre games. But look at other teams.

South Carolina lost to Francis Marion. Which I guess is where Hugh Freeze started coaching girl's hoops.

Oregon: No 1 in CBN lost to Utah (over 200+ RPI) and only beat Pine Bluff 3-2 (Pine Bluff's RPI is flirting with 300).

Florida State: No 1 in the Coaches Poll lost to Florida Gulf Coast, whatever that is.

Florida's SOS is number 1. You keeping saying Florida is 4th in their conference. You are right about that. But the three teams in front of Florida in the SEC standings are ranked 2nd, 3rd, and 4th nationally. Florida is ranked 5th. If Florida is "vastly overrated", thenwhere shouldFlorida be ranked? 10th? 15th? 20th? unranked?

I don't necessarily think Florida is overrated so much as they have underperformed in the SEC, at least compared to what I expected from them. Right now, I'd probably rank them somewhere around 10th. But they've definitely got the potential to make a strong post-season run. My point really was just that it's not ridiculous for someone to say they're overrated based on how they've played.

y'all probably haven't picked this up yet, being in 7th grade, but If I'm "defending" our offense, I must think there's nothing wrong with it? Keep trying Sally. I'm sure you've got another hour or so on the computer 'till mom kicks you off.

You are literally the stupidest baseball poster on this board, right there with rugbdawg. You have not addressed a single point Ive made against you all day rather just say that you know so much about history and we dont understand English. You are a tool.

Rather win 2-1 than 20-5, are u kidding me? What a dumbass thing to post.

You think we're one of the top defensive teams in the league, and then have to walk that statement back? "Oh I was including pitching with defense." Yeah because theyre the same 17ing thing, moron.

I guess there is a reason that the Official Baseball Historian has a username of a basketball player, because you dont have a clue what the 17 you are talking about. I think its time to shut out the lights at your nursing home grandpa, because anyone who nostalgically returns to the dead-ball era must be old as 17

again, what exactly was yours? That we don't hit good?

*ETA: Oh yeah, it was that a team that WINS (game's over) a game 2-1 could be in danger of losing that lead...good call Doc Brown.
