1. Why is no one talking about this game

2. What do we have to do to win?

I think we are set up to have an outside shot at an upset, here's why:

  • Bama has to game plan foe two QBs and possibly Jameon Lewis out of the Wildcat
  • Bama just came off a big game vs. LSU and might be banged up/hangover
  • STATE just played an inferior opponent; giving us the time to gameplan for BAMA last week and this week
  • STATE is basically injury free
  • Our O-Line and D-Line are both playing well right now
  • HOME game - we played LSU very close in Starkville
  • Special teams is peaking - We are kicking the ball in the endzone and are punting well; return game starting to gel
  • Numerous running back options; Ballard, Perkins, Lewis, Griffin, Relf
  • Little Favre has his swagger - this will be important when Russell and Relf go down with injury.

Why we wont win:</p>
  • Bama is pissed
  • We are M-State

We lost a basketball game at home last night to a nobody.

The biggest scandal, possibly in the history of college athletics, is going to get a lot of attention here and everywhere else.

The worst thing that could have happened did happen. Bama was left by the computers in perfect position for a rematch. Whatever negative emotional impact the loss had was erased on Sunday afternoon when the BCS came out. Saban has been riding their *** all week reminding them that they still have to take care of business to get the rematch. And he knows that the computers and voters like convincing wins.

same thing as last year, still beat us 30-10
STATE just played an inferior opponent; giving us the time to gameplan for BAMA last week and this week
we had a bye week last year
Our O-Line and D-Line are both playing well right now
both are worst than last year

Take Bama laying the wood! We can't score on that defense. We can't stop Richardson from running down our throat. Saban will not allow them to feel sorry for themselves. With Stanford playing Oregon and potential for loss, Saban will look to pour it on to move the polls.<div>
</div><div>We need to just hope we escape without injuries and hope that we face the Arkansas road team next week in Little Rock and not the Arkansas home team.</div>

much less win. We will have a LOT of trouble getting into the end zone against Bama's defense and right now DePasquale has apparently lost it as far as being a consistent FG kicker. If we don't get a defensive score we may not get one.

It'll require on a few of their key players being hurt though. If Barrett Jones doesn't play then we have a shot. He's their best O Lineman and they typically run Richardson from behind him. He's got a pretty bad sprained ankle. Dre Kirkpatrick is wounded as is Brad Smelley their TE who is a very good blocker and instrumental in their run game.
We'll have to play our best game of the year on Defense just to have a chance even against their wounded team. In the prediction thread I posted we'd win 12 to 10. We won't get a TD most likely unless it's a Defensive TD. If we can hold them from scoring more than one TD and put them in FG situations then we might get some left over LSU VooDoo in their kicker's head. If they miss a FG early it'll get in their heads, and Saban's head.
Everyone talks about Saban as some god like coach well I got news for you he's not that great of a game time coach. He wins games by compiling the best Recruiting Talent in the nation, regardless of the methods. He flat out got out-coached on the field by Les Miles this weekend, which doesn't bode well for his reputation. It's also why he couldn't cut it in the NFL. You can't intimidate Pro Players and threaten them with Medical Scholly's. But before I get too carried away it has to be said that their talent level is superior to our roster. But they are injured and will be hungover from the loss. Just look at Saban's history, his teams haven't recovered that well after losses. Even Crooms got a piece of that once.

Now having said that, I ain't putting any money on this game.

I saw on a football card where they were giving State 17 points .... not sure of the "official" spread but that seems like a decent bet for us
