Penn State coach is in his sixth year and they are about a 16 win team.

Absolutely. I love this staff and think they will sell a vision and recruit well, but with only 2 ships for next year, it will take a while.
This. I was going to say it might not be a bad idea if a couple guys transfer to free up a couple more scholarships. Roster needs a major infusion of talent.

But we are NOT good! It's that simple.

Needs to recruit.
The upside is that with a few good recruits that can contribute immediately it could shorten the timetable. There isn't a quick fix except on the shooting end. The right people can turn that around.
We might not win more games, but it gives us a better chance. The winning part helps getting kids interested enough to want to play for RU.
Doesn't necessarily have to be Jersey kids either although that would be nice. Right now we really don't stand a chance against the better teams because of our basketball skill level and things we can't do offensively.
Penn St was a good example. We hung in because they shot so poorly and we couldn't take advantage of it.
The only games we might win in the conference won't be because of what we do, but what the other team doesn't. Just keep the fan base excited enough to fill the RAC.

I would be shocked if we dont get some addition by subtraction in the off season, things always work out that way

We played hard against PSU...we did NOT tonight. This was a game from last year.

There isn't a big difference between PSU and Mich State. Stats bear this too. We made MSU look good

Year one is the baseline. Instilling program fundamentals is imperative, and playing hard is one of those. It's all about recruiting, but if all goes as desired, one day we will have talented kids playing hard.

Gotta start somewhere. As the announcers said, Rutgers isn't a rebuilding job. That implies there was some sort of foundation.

We have more talent in the program now than a year ago and will have more talent in the program a year from now. That's good. I think we play hard. I think we are pretty fundamentally sound.

All I can ask for at this point. At the end of the year I hope we are better than we are today. I'd bet on that happening too.

Do you honestly believe this? MSU's only bad loss is to a half decent Northeastern team, while PSU has lost to Albany and George Mason with their best win of maybe St. John's? MSU is going to finish as a top 5-6 team in the conference because that's what they do, and PSU is a bottom 3-4 team.

These teams couldn't be more different. (The analytics agree by the way, just look at the disparity on KenPom)
