plain and simple. It happens. 17 it. Life goes on.
And to all you overly dramatic ******** who say "I give up on this team" "I quit". No you dont... Shut the 17 up for Christs sake. Im litterally sick to my god damn stomach right now but crying on a 17ing messege board"17 my life" is 17ing pathetic.

17 I hate state fans sometimes.

I agree. We had a golden opportunity today, we blew it, and now we'll move on to the rest of the season. To me, the loss proved that there's still a wide margin between ourselves and teams like LSU and Bama, but we also showed that we can play some downright ****** football and still take a road game against a tough football team down to the wire.

Unfortunately, I think this now means that 8-4 is pretty close to our best case scenario at this point, but I guess I'll still gladly take that at this time in Mullen's career. The refs sucked today, our playcalling was horrific at times, and Auburn came out with more energy and emotion, but I can't help but thinking that this is what you get when hope to continuously "coach up" our recruting classes against SEC teams that land Top 5 classes year after year. There's just too much talent there and Auburn showed what happens when you're bigger, stronger, and faster at so many critical positions. The gap may not be the size of the grand canyon nor is it at every position, but it's there and it showed today. We got pushed around, our blockers got shoved to the side, and we were just outmatched. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed today.

With all that said, I can almost guarantee that we're going to pull a major upset or two this year so while I'm pissed, it ain't time to mail it in yet. I may be crazy, but I'll be there Thursday night. If nothing else, I'm taking the next day off so I've got a good reason to get drunk.

When we came back and tied the game at 14-14 and then could not move the ball, I knew we were in trouble. If we score again and get the ball down field, we take the crowd out of it and completely change the momentum of the game. It hurt us that we were not very effective after getting the tie.

Big game Thursday at home.

This needs a like button.

Problems is, we are going to have explosive diarrhea in the bed, this Thursday with LSU.

We made way too many mistakes early and in other key parts of the game to win.

Quite honestly, I think it was a miracle we were in it there at the end with the way we gave up the big play and rushing yards.

Season is too early to give up on and I still think we have some surprising football in us before it is over.

Wake me up on Thursday.

It's gonna be tough to win 8, or maybe even 7 games with this defense, but anyone actually saying they "give up" or any dumb **** like that is pathetic. I guarantee you watch Thursday like the rest of us for better or worse. I've been racking my brain trying to come up with anything positive to take out of this game, and there isn' much obviously, but I will say this: at least we have an offense that is on par with the rest of the league and are putting a watchable product in the field.

We agonize over trying to figure out what kind of team we have all summer and off-season and now we know: respectable to very good offense, average defense, and ****** special teams. Now lets see how far it gets us for 10 more games.

"overmatched". Actually for us to lose today it took really poor playcalling (how does Vick Ballard totally disappear for the 2nd and 3rd quarters), bad special teams play and key penalties on our defense to keep Auburn drives alive for us to lose. Heck, we outgained them by nearly 150 yards. This Auburn team is talented but not that good at this point and we will very much regret all year losing this game. I am afraid we will be overmatched by the likes of Bama and LSU but that wasn't our problem today. And I agree that if our recruiting doesn't pick up more "difference maker" type players it will be difficult for us to ever compete with the top end of the league. You've really got to get a few of those every year to really compete big time and its hard to find those when you are getting so few 4 and 5 star type players. One other point is that I was against this LSU Thursday night from the start mainly because of the hardship on the fans travelling from further away but the way this Auburn game went today emotionally plus the injuries its going to be nearly impossible for our team to be really fully ready to play again by Thursday. To schedule that game 5 days after playing the national champs on the road was always a stupid idea especially given LSU is playing NW State.

I agree totally. If you are a MSU fan, you persevere, you
suck it up, and you move on. This **** happens; yes, yes, I will
concede it happens to us more often than others, but wtf? We didn't lose
the game because of the refs; we lost because we suck at defense, we
couldn't put any pressure on their QB, and we made too many mistakes
with stupid penalties. Being a MSU fan is the hardest job on Earth; it
would be easier to 'fluff' for a living, but here we all are. The fact
that I, myself, am an MSU fan, is the reason I can only cheer for one,
and only one, sports program; there simply isn't enough room in my heart
for another, nor could I take the stress or heartache entailed in
following another team; I'm all in. So all you fair-weather-er's out
there - STFU! That is all; here end'eth the lesson.
