Someone in our office just said Vicksburg had straight line winds around 100mph. Do we need to hunker down in Jackson?

My grandmother lives in Vicksburg.

Was the wind really that bad? Any significant damage?

My mother called to say she saw the metal roof of a building on ERDC's base get peeled back. Also, checked some storm reports and there was a possible tornado touch-down around Yokena. Emergency crews said the pattern of trees that were knocked down were indicative of a tornado instead of straightline winds. I think the stuff in town was mainly normal winds, though.

house on hwy 80 got its roof ripped off - 2pm - tornado sirens went off about the same time - about 1 mile from where i work.<div>

that most of the roads were blocked with trees. Know a few folks who weren't able to make it home for a while. Also a massive oak was down on the road heading in to the country club.

My mom works for the corps and said they were sent into the basement area because a tornado was passing close by.
