Webcast coverage of GW/Heritage scrimmage tonight.

My new venture will make its unofficial debut tonight when CVip Media Solutions presents a live webcast of the second portion of the GW/Heritage (Lynchburg) scrimmage at J.T. Christopher Stadium.

I have been broadcasting G.W. Eagles football games on the radio since 1989. During that time, our coverage received nearly 50 honors from the Associated Press and the Virginia Association of Broadcasters; routinely beating out coverage from college football broadcasters with a staff of dozens.

I am no longer in radio, but the urge to continue to do something that I have so dearly loved the past 28 years is overwhelming. So overwhelming, in fact, that I felt compelled to explore an alternative way bring live coverage of GW football to its legion of fans. I have come up with a way.

I am using an iPad and webcasting software to bring live coverage of GW Football. Next week, a local radio station (104.5 The Dan) will begin simulcasting our games.

lost a lot of seniors. Scrimmaged Liberty Bealton tonight, QB didn't play which was probably good to not risk injury. Game couldn't finish because of bad weather. Played pretty good

I listened to 1st part of the uncontrolled scrimmage.. Heritage was putting together some good drives only to be stopped by penalties or turnovers. Sounded like GW defense swarms to the ball and fast. GW also sounded like they moved the ball pretty good. I think carlos poole at QB gonna be hard to contain this year.

Well said Ridge. I didn't listen to the uncontrolled scrimmage. GW did do well in the controlled scrimmage as well, the red zone segment of the scrimmage. Last year they were eaten alive by the pass and big running backs, the MV, Leesburg, and FC games are great examples. They did a solid job of containing a big time caliber back like Davis. Poole will be the difference maker this year. Branch is smart and a pure football player, but Poole has that it factor. How did MV do at Pulaski?

Didnt get to make it, but just heard they started slow, but ended up finishing strong. I still dont think scales is running yet, mainly rupert. Scales did play a little DB in the blue and red game.

Yeah I wouldn't want to risk him getting hurt. I'm anxious to see how y'all perform next week in Salem. IMO y'all are the best team in 3a. I remember C.J. Hughes when he was a little baby, his Gma and my gma were good friends, and boy am I proud of that young man. He's no doubt one of the best linemen in the state in all classes. I'm sold on that Blue Funk Defense. It's going to be NASTY this year.

Sorry I'm so late but Ridge is right GW defense was swarming to the ball. They didn't have any problems getting the ball down field. Heritage looked like they will be a contender come playoff time! GW QB will give teams fits! GW will be around come playoff time! So will Heritage!

I plan to be at the GW/Dan River game Friday. I hear a lot of chatter from DR people that they have the team to beat GW and MV and Appomattox... I respect their confidence but I just don't see it happening. Dan River had their best team in school history last year and I don't see them having the same success this year.

Both teams looked VERY good for an initial scrimmage. Not a great deal of penalties or obvious mental mistakes.

The Eagles defense looks to be much improved. Carlos Poole is going to be just fine at QB. Hard to get a read on some of the other players since the Eagles weren't wearing numbers.
