In Class 2A both TJHS and Armstrong earned home games, and not against each other.
MBK played themselves out of a spot end the end.
Varina and Huguenot also has a home games.

Home teams seem to be holding serve. only ones in the RVa area to keep and eye on are New Kent, Midlo. and TJ.

Sherando won 56-35 over James Wood, but it was anything but a rout. JW led 21-7 in the second quarter and it was tied at halftime. Sherando seemed content to let the JW QB have as much time as he liked in the pocket, and he made them pay for that early on.

For as many close games as the two have had, the SHS/JW series has to be among the most lopsided in the state. Sherando leads 34-4 since opening in 1993.

The Warriors will need to play much better next week to have a chance in Danville.

After sleep walking in the 1qtr and probably most of the first half resulting in being down 9-0 at home. The Springers absolutely dominated the second half, practically shut Glen Allen offense down, who honestly only really had maybe 1 or 2 drives where they were moving the ball effectively. GA’s QB had a long td run on a read option and GA got a fg after a bad punt snap for the springs which gave GA the ball in the redzone. After GA went up 9-0 at the beginning of the 2nd qtr, HSHS scored 28 unanswered. The most impressive part about all this is the springs did it without really using Eric Byrd. Jonathan Carter was great tonight and should be featured in the running game when EB’s not in. The passing game looks like it’s really coming along. When Bud Richardson has some time to scan the field, he can really make some good decisions and throws when it’s needed.

I know someone said it this week but LCA being 6 seed would be a tough out and they beat 3 seed Broadway 14-12! That caught my eye!

What caught my attention was the fact that Varina was up 47 to 0 at halftime. Varina starters did not play the second half and it was a running clock. Highland springs looked a lot better in the second half against Glen Allen.

A big surprise, Central-lunenburg losing to Southampton ending their undefeated season
